Good Day Chris(SuperBroo), Welcome to the Forum.

Been Brewing BIAB for a year and a half, Very Good. Nice that you also found that BIAB makes Grat beer, and 3V is way too much work.

If you can, tell us more about your "kickass temp controller" it sounds very interesting!!!
(We love Pictures,too.)

Hello from Chicago!

Northern Brewer's Jake's Got A Brand New Bag podcast episode and Google led me to the this wonderful land of biabrewer.info.

The site and forums are amazing - and have already led to my best brew to-date. Looking forward to many more. Mini BIAB is definitely the way to go for me with my current stove top situation. Excited to experiment with more all grain.

Thanks for all of the info. Will share more if this weekend cooperates and a brew day is allowed.

Hello everyone!

I'm from Ephrata PA, been living here pretty much my entire life. It's about an hour west of Philly.

I came across this site while browsing homebrewtalk, I've spent countless hours there and was excited to find this site as I'm a huge BIAB fan!

Site seems great so far and as I mentioned I'm a big fan of BIAB and looking to brew bigger batches soon.

I'be brewed one extract batch, two partial's, and two all grain BIAB. 3 of the 5 have turned out awesome and the other two are decent. I bottled 4 of the batches and my my wonderful wife bought me a kegging kit for my b-day so I kegged my last batch.

I work full time in the accounting field.

Hello World! Fairly new brewer here, I'll just do the short version and copy-paste the questions from the OP.

1. Where are you from? Bergen, Norway
2. How did you stumble across the site? It was referred to at a norwegian homebrewer forum.
3. What you think of it so far? Looks great, lots of useful data here! No need for reinventing the wheel.
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? Have brewed about 7-8 batches using a maxi-BIAB variant setup.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I work as an electrical power engineer.

Welcome Skitskjegg! Bergen has a special place in my heart...my grandfather came over to the states from Bergen in 1895....in fact his last name was Berge.
Tried to visit there once when I was on a business trip years ago, but there was not enough time.....driving around all those fjords really makes it hard to get places!

Glad to have you on board as maxi-BIABrewer!

Hello from yet another Scandi.

Where are you from?
South of Sweden, Blekinge

How did you stumble across the site?
Google searches and swedish homebrew forums.

What you think of it so far?
Very nice, good info, lots of knowledge.

Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
Last night i put my ninth batch in a fermenter. An Ale for christmas, landing at 1.068, dark and with just a hint of spices. I brew 14 liter batches, biab, in a 25 liter pot. Just started milling my malt at home.

Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I am working from home as a graphic designer.

Hello one and all.

I am PieOPah commonly referred to as Pie or PoP.

I started brewing about 10 years ago but unfortunately due to a lack of space and family commitment I stopped about 4 years ago.

I am now ready to start again :-)

In the past, I used to do a full grain mash and would batch sparge (although never very successfully). Shortly before stopping, I did invest in a nice little sprinkler, but again this wasn't altogether successful and I never got round to improving my technique.

I am now back and ready to start again.

Whilst I still have most of my own kit, I did recently invest in a nice new Mash Tun. It is since buying this that I discovered BIAB which it looks like I will be doing (I used to have a Bucket in Bucket Mash Tun).

I am looking forward to rediscovering the joys of brewing :-)

hey guess I have to post here before starting topics anywhere else.

I'm in the east Kootenays BC (Canada).
I've been brewing extract beers for 10+ years, more recently I've been researching full grain beers so I can make better & different beers (extract all tastes the same after a while). I read about bIAB somewhere & then found this site.

Excited that BIAB seems like an easy & less equipment-intensive way of full grain brews. I only have a 15l stockpot so far, but I figure I can make a couple 1/2 batches to try it out, test recipes etc before I get around to getting a proper size brew kettle.

I have some leftover crystal malts & hosp that I've been steeping & adding to extract kits. Look out for a topic requesting recipe help... I'm curious if I can concoct something from the ingredients I have lying round.

Good Day Jamesp, Welcome to the Forum.

BIAB is a way to make All types of Beer, with all grain!

Your 15L stockpot can make 9+Liters of 1.040SG with Full Volume BIAB, but it Will Be nearly full for the mash. You may be able to add a Batch sparge in a small pot and make a 12+L batch

If you can get a 24/28L stock pot all half batches will be possible!!

Can you tell us what ingredients you have and we may be able to make a recipe. We have a couple of programs to help you make a good recipe/batch.

cheers, & yep I figure it will be tight. It'd be nice to get 10 litres into the fermenter, I think I can mash with whatever fits in the pot & top up a little water during the boil?
I'll skip getting a 20 or 30l pot for now... my first couple test batches will be done on the electric kitchen stove, smaller batches will be easier to boil. I'll put the pot in the oven during mash to maintain temps.

I'll likely pick up a proper kettle & gas burner in time for winter... it'll be -15 outside here by December which should chill the wort down fast!

Edit: I started a thread in Recipe Formulation http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=1627

Good morning all from Derby, England.
Male, 43, all my own teeth (lol) working for a major Pre Cast Concrete supplier (Yup, the Hard Stuff)
Found the site from a link posted by a member of the Home Brewing and Winemaking Forum. Been a long time winemaker (Did my first gallon back in 1992)and recently branched into extract brewing with the intent of moving to AG when I could afford to buy the additional equipment but I got impatient and was directed here to find out about BIAB. What a fantastic idea! Since I'm interested in Medieval brewing this is going to be a great way of reproducing some of the recipes I've been researching without buying a huge array of equipment (Which the original brewers wouldn't have had.)on a small scale as well as putting a little more craft into my home brew.

Good Day Captain Reech, Welcome Aboard!

BIAB is a bit Midieval to many 3V brewer, so you will be fine.

Look around the Site, check the section "The Master Guide of BIAB Brewing" at http://biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=25 to learn all about starting BIAB.

When your brews turn out good, let us know how you did, and we are always here, if you have questions.

Hello everyone! I am from Minnesota, USA. I have been brewing for about 4 years. After going through the normal progression of extract kits, to all-grain, and up to an electric RIMS 10 gallon 3V system. About 6 months ago I got burned out as a typical brew day felt more like work than a hobby. I self-discovered the BIAB method last Christmas while making an oatmeal stout pancake syrup as a gift. It was basically a 2 quart batch I made with my hop bag and a stock pot. Turned out great! When I looked online to see if this was an "accepted" method of brewing I came across this site. From what I can tell this is a great community with a very concise knowledge base. I look forward to coming back full circle and again finding the "zen" of brewing! My current planned setup is a 10.5 gal kettle on a propane burner out on my patio.

I look forward to being a part of this community and all the knowledge it has to offer.

Hi there!

1. Where are you from? UK, but now live in Auckland, NZ.
2. How did you stumble across the site? Google.
3. What you think of it so far? Great source of info, thanks!
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? I've just put down my 2nd kit brew, but want to get into AG brewing. BIAB seems like the most accessible route to go. Just waiting for my gas burner to arrive then I'm in business :)
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I'm a freelance artworker (mainly advertising).

This forum seems like a good source for knowledge. I'm sure I will get plenty of tips here when I come back asking why my 1st BIAB attempt tastes rank :)

Cheers
Ben

Welcome BMD

Hope your burner arrives soon. And don't worry about "rank" beer. BIAB is so easy its almost hard to believe, your brews will be awsome.
