Hi All, I'm from Ireland,
stumbled across the site after my bro in law told me about how he was mashing using the biab method, I was chatting about making a lautering tun and he told me not to bother, just google biab

There's a lot of info to take in, have to work my way through it.

I've brewed a few extract brews,, and they all worked out my last brew was the clearest yet, a weissbier.... Hope to get brewing more regularly soon. I'm out of work, but raising 2 little girls, so a block of time to brew is hard to manage.

Good Day Carawaystick, Welcome to the site!, BAIB is the easy way to brew. Your Extract Brews may be finished, and you can move to All-Grain, and a BIAB from start to Fermenter can be done in 4-5 hours, and if you go No-CHILL it could be quicker. Look over the site and let us know if you have questions!

Good day!

1. Where are you from?
I'm from Beaverton, Oregon, USA.

2. How did you stumble across the site?
I found the site on various other forums, google, and the like. Thought I should finally come and register.

3. What you think of it so far?
There seems to be a wealth of information. Can't wait to dig in!

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
Yep. I've made a passible stout or two. I respect the elaborate kit some (quite justly) spend much time, money, and effort on, but simplicity is often repeatability.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I'm an Infrastructure Administrator (IT) for Laika. I have a new son. Given that I don't have a ton of time or money for beer, but I love brewing!

Thanks for taking the time to review my first post.

Regards,

- Mike

Hello there I'm Bob from Halifax in the beautiful county of West Yorkshire in England.

First time BIAB brewer in a few days although I've done several kits before. Just ordered all my kit as a new years present.

I'm a seaman by trade and can't think of a better way to spend some leave than getting some pints on.

Hello All,

I'm David from Granite Bay, California, USA.

I've been brewing for about 7 years now. Did a couple of extract batches then jumped right into all-grain. Built my first gravity fed system about 6 years using converted keg. Got tired of lifting 5 gallon (~19L) of water over my head to fill my hot liquor tank, so I built a nice little RIMS system last year. Everything is on one level now and I'm loving life.

I'm a BJCP recognized beer judge and belong to one of the local brewing clubs (Gold Country Brewers Association). I also participate in a couple of information beer tasting groups.

The reason I'm joining this forum is to learn more about biab. I recently started teaching a class at a local brewery targeted at brewers who want to step up to all-grain. During the class we brew up a 45 Gallon batch on a gravity fed/fly sparge system, but I also want to expose the brewers to biab as an inexpensive alternative to the other common AG systems. This seems like a great place to learn and get advice from what I've read so far.

Here's to beer!

Cheers,
Dave

Good Day Dave(GBBrewer), Welcome to the site. Take a look at your site, it has all that is known about BIAB. This is the way to brew All-Grain beer with the least equipment, and the lowest cost.

Check out the Commentary at http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=190 It should give you a quick look into BIAB.

For little Batches look over or MINI-BIAB section http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=153
This should help you understand BIAB, and Maybe you will leave "The Dark Side(3V)" and join us!

Let us know if we can help, and tell your Class about Us!

Good Day Mike(BeerEagle), Welcome to the site. I believe if you have a kettle, and a heat source to do extract batchs, You only need a bag the size of the kettle, to do All-Grain brewing.

Check out the Commentary http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=190 and look over the site to see which type of brewing you do, electric or gas, Big/Maxi Batches or Mini batches.

Post any questions you have and we can Help.

Thanks Joshua, I have a reasonable sized stock pot and a good sized bag. Going to start with some mini batches to test it out then persuade my other half to buy me a bigger pot (and make me a bigger bag). Also planning to use a couple of poly pins for the no-chill method.

Hi fellow brewers,

I just started brewing, i have 3 extract brews under my belt now. A red ale that came with my kit, a mild brown that i just bottled last week and an IPA that is on the fermentor rigth now.
I am from Tijuana, Mexico. I have really enjoyed the process of brewing and i will atempt to do my next batch, my first AG, an Irish Dry Stout using the BIAB method.

Thanks for giving up your time to put up quality resources on the net,
Gustavo

Hello All,

Mike here from California, USA. I've been extract brewing for a year and felt the need to step it up. I just read a great article about "urban brewing" in the latest Zymurgy magazine, and it opened me up to the BIAB approach. I just ordered a new kettle and outdoor burner and am excited to begin all-grain.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,
I've been brewing for nearly a year, mostly extract and grains, but a few partial mashes as well. I have been hearing about BIAB for a while now and just stumbled across this site, which seems to have all the info I'll need! I bought a sheet of voile yesterday and I'm just waiting for some ingredients to arrive. I'm starting with a simple recipe - Jamil's Mild - looking to get about 8 litres as I only have a 15 litre pot.

Cheers,
Pat

Good Day Pat(Krause), Welcome to the site! A small batch is fine, if the batch does fit you Taste, there is not that much to Waste.
You can make 12-14Liter with you kettle, try MAXI-BAIB! http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=352
You can make a HIGH gravity batch (a lot of grains) in your kettle, the remove the grains and Sparge in another pot. Then add the Sparge to the Kettle as it boils to Make up to 14 litres of wort!
A Bit more work, but it is worth it!

Hello all,

I'm new here and fairly new to homebrewing. I live in Bedford Indiana. I've brewed 4 batches 3 of swill and 1 of beer. The first 3 were straight extract and not very tasty. The last one was a partial mash and it is a very tasty American Brown Ale. I have 2 more partial mash kits left a Smoked Scotch Ale and an Irish Red Ale. I like partial mash brewing because it's pretty straight forward and easy. I read an article in Zymurgy about BIAB and it mentioned this site. I really like the idea not much more work and all grain brewing OH YEAH sign me up. The idea of traditional all grain is something I figured I would maybe do one day. I have lots of reading to do and all the resources are right here. I already have most of the equipment I need and look forward to giving it a go. Thanks in advance for all the help!
