Not a good summer but the forcast is looking better !

Post #1 made 15 years ago
God I'm depressed,, not only has the weather been absolute Sh~te I haven't been able to get a brew on for nearly 2 months. Kids, holidays, other peoples Birthdays, household chores and repairs not to mention work!!!! What is a man to do ??? I've been that tied up in other stuff I've even forgot to re-order my hops. I thought I'd have my brewing shed built by now. I swear the older I get the worse it is.

But hey ho its Saturday tomorrow :P , I've found some Northern brewer and Fuggles in the bottom of the freezer  , I've still got loads of Marris Otter and some crystal, so its an evening with Beer Smith tonight and the kettles going on first thing in the morning. I should be half way through the Mash by the time SHMBO gets out of bed.

Thanks for listening I feel much better now and will be even better once I've got a full FV.

:peace:

I know just how you feel. Can't wait for the kids to get back to school so I don't have to entertain them all the time.
Managed to get a brew in one afternoon this week. just got into the FV after doing a 24 hour starter. Should do it's thing without my attention next week while I take may family on a cruise to Rhodes, Greece.
Cube:
fermenter: Sourdough Spelt Ale, Classic Lambic, Oud Brune, Barrel Aged Belgian Dubbel
Kegs: Bob's Black IPA, Blanc Blond, Soda...
to be brewed:

Hi Shib

Rhodes is nice, went there years ago and travelled down to Lindos I think it was? very nice part of the world, its a shame the economy is all messed up.

Just been to the local Micro Brewery (Bank Top Bolton). Very nice guys they are to. I took a clean sanatised bottle and they gave me some fresh yeast, they said the strain is Thwaites.
I'm going to split it and grow some on but use the bulk of it tomorrow. I've got an idea for the starter brewing which I'll start another post with.

Feeling better

So I'm guessing by now your brew day has been run and won Yeasty. I hope it was successful for you :)

Shib, stick your family on the cruise and you could stay home to brew to your hearts content.

Guess what?????

Its raining !!

Brew went well apart from the rain starting again, done an ESB which is looking good. Designed on Beersmith2 in tandem with the calculator and everything is coming out on target apart from the boil off. But thats to be expected considering how damp it is around here :!: On the plus side I've ended up with a couple of extra pints :drink:

:salute:

Hi PP

It was nice to get another brew under my belt, hopefully I'll have more time available going forward. Already planning my next one for a fortnights time. I should really make the effort and sort out the brew shed, with a bit of flood lighting I could brew 24/7.
