Best Microbreweries from Orlando, Florida Area???

Post #1 made 9 years ago
Help Guys,

I know at least some of you are from Florida? Are there some good microbreweries in the Orlando area?

I live in the great state of Oregon. Great in that we have great "nature"...along with great breweries, and great wine, (as long as you like the best Pinot Noir :drink: , and great Pinot Gris). ;)

Well...I have a daughter...who decided it would not be "success" if she did not get with an "athletic scholorship" to play volleyball in either California or Florida...someplace with warm weather and a nice beach. Well, our strong minded little girl wound up across our great nation...in Florida. Gee, thanks! Bet that won't cost a penny to fly home...

Well here we are... About 1.5 years later. She has always been "the coaches favorite"...but hated her Florida college coach and no longer plays college volleyball. Walked away her scholorship! Turned down multiple offers from her old coach to please come back... Met Florida boy (recent graduate) and now ENGAGED to be married... You've got to be kidding me...! :shoot: I actually like the young man she is engaged to. Flew out to Oregon late last spring to meet us. Good lad. And actually, I think, a really good fit for her EXCEPT she loves Florida now and will be living 3500 miles / over 5000 km away from us!!! WHY couldn't she have went to one of our local Oregon colleges!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!!

Well, here we are. Planning a wedding in the Orlando area at the end of the year... All the way across the nation! Appears that I will be in charge of finding (and paying for) the brew for the wedding reception ceremony, along with who knows what else...as "The Father of the Bride"... Don't like the thought of sending my brew across the states and hoping it winds up okay; smarter to find something local. Looked on Yelp and see some places listed as breweries in Orlando.

Not a huge IPA fan but like most everything besides that (including hoppy APA pale ale). Does anybody have knowledge on microbreweries in the Orlando, Florida area that could help me out? Or should I just "drink more beer"... I feel like drinking a lot more just pouring these concerns out to you, and am about to head out and grab "one more pint" of my dry hopped APA just now to soothe my aching mind...

Thanks, Scott

Thanks Jhough.

Apparently it is custom for the bride's parents that pay for the wedding. I love girls, but with the wedding angle...not too bad only to have one. :| Did you say you have three or four girls...? With the wedding angle, I feel your pain...

If you can get away to Tampa I can help. Only about an hour drive west and you can visit Cigar City Brewing.

Yep, Cigar City is where I would go for sure if it's that close. Everything I've had from them is pretty great.

Hope you can make it work, Cigar City is easily the best brewery in the state.

If you do make it to Tampa there are a ton of good breweries to visit. Easily more than you can do in a single day. Another idea would be to visit my local HBS Southern Brewing and Winemaking. Besides selling brewing supplies they also brew some fine beer that you can get on tap and have a great garden area outside.

Some other options include:

- Angry Chair Brewing
- Tampa Bay Brewing Company
- Coppertail Brewing

There are also some other fantastic breweries across the bridge in St. Pete but I think this list is enough for now.

ST Pete and Dunedin have a bunch of great breweries. You could make a week of doing pub crawls and still not hit them all . I saw 3 new ones today in Odessa & Temple Terrace..
