Devilish Home POO Experiment

Post #1 made 14 years ago
In The Home Brewer's Companion, Pg. 86, by Charlie Papazian, there is a unique account about indigenous tribes of the Andes in Peru. The human mouth has enzymes similar to a mash. They chew up corn and spit it into the "wort bucket" and the yeast is simple saccharomyces cerevisiae... from unweaned BABY POOP!
Now we are about to receive my first great-grandson any minute now. Oh yea, this might be sick but I'm doing it.

I plan to steal some baby poop and make a 2 liter starter. If it ferments and the gravity drops like normal the culture will be placed into the fridge to settle. I will decant and CAREFULLY harvest the yeast off of the..."TRUB". Then use that yeast in a fresh starter. If that works, it's going in a high gravity ale wort.

I will taste test it. If ok, I will wait until the very last drop is drank by the family before anouncing the name of this brew: Avery Poop Ale.

Is this legal? Ethical? Oh I hope so. Any ideas on a good heavy ale, just in case of off-flavors  An IPA would just be cheating.

Good Day, Good Luck, I have made a few batches of beer that tasted like baby poop, smelled like baby poop, or looked like baby poop. Baby poop beer is not describe in the BJCP manual, and may not be allow to enter some beer contests. But, I have had some commerical beer that tasted like "baby piss", and had many people are buying it. So try it, you may have a great idea!

Avery Butler, born 12/23/11, my first GREAT-grandson. Maybe I should streak some agar plates to separate the saccharomyces cerevisiae from the other crap.
