jhough,

No problem. the points only count as a tie breaker anyway. Next game is next Thursday August 28th. It is the last pre-season game and I doubt the starters will play at all? It is pot luck at guessing but a week later on September 4th it's show time.

Below is a link to a live database so you can see how we are doing.

jhough,

At least you have a proper reason for scoring 0 points this week, mine has to be down to incompetent guessing. As they say in cricket, I failed to trouble the scorers!

I just hope that I've now got it out of my system.

Bob, Guess I'll DEFINATELY sit out this week ! I don't ebven know who will be playing in the Bucs game next week .
Adman, we are actually in the same boat.. Figure I could at least hit a couple of points per week as they are the Stinkin' Pack.

Guys,

Yes it's hard in the pre-season to pick anything. You might as well throw darts against the wall? I know I bug people thinking that I am trying to trap them into playing. The truth is...... I am really testing out the system as I am saying. In reality. I would be pushing people away because it seems so random and arbitrary. Someday I will have it done well enough to be fairly fool proof? I was going to do a total redesign this last Summer but I failed to follow through. :sneak: Surprise!! :o

I have a list of 44 changes to make the site easier to maintain and be portable to any football team? However it's hard coded and it's "spaghetti code". That's a term programmers used to use when someone does a convoluted bit of coding? Bad job. It is amateurish. :idiot:

So it's one more crappy week of football and then it's the Season opener! Why did the Packers have to be the very first team to play the world champions? To start the year with a loss to the champions is no shame but....... I expect to win them all! :champ:

Player and (New players?)

Do the Cheese now! A shortened week again!

Thursday August 28 at 6 PM local time. The Green Bay Packers will play their last (preseason - exhibition - practice) game. We will play all rookies and newbies to see if any of them will stick with the team. We lost two regular players in the game last week. One had his arm muscle torn off his arm bone. :argh: He is done for the season (really  ) and the other player is going to be out for 6 weeks or so? A knee problem. :idiot:

After this last practice game we will be down to 54 players from 90. Serious game planning to start the season against the world champs on Thursday September 4th. The following game will be on Sunday September 14. All the rest of the games will be on Sunday afternoon with a few exceptions. Here is a link to the schedule. Print it out and place next to your beer (so you will see it every day )

Players,

The real season begins next Thursday September 4th. It will be the only game that day as it is the "Kickoff" for the NFL (National Football League). From then on we will play mostly on Sundays. Look for a schedule on proceeding posts! There is still time to join and play.

Congrats to Lylo who had 12 points and Goulaigan with 11! :champ:

It's a good strategy. PP used it last year and won.
 Don't believe a word Bob says, goul. Last year I spent ages interviewing players, studying the numbers etc. That worked well but when things get tough, I found kidnapping the player's children or ham-stringing the players themselves worked wonders. When I say, 'players' I mean the players here on BIABrewer. I would never dream of manipulating the game by the abuse of the real players :nup:.

Oh and a direct debit from your bank account into BobBrew's works very well as well. It's probably mandatory .

Unfortunately it is very expensive trying to keep a flow of winning level funds going in Bob's direction. This is the main reason we don't have any repeat winners...yet. How many Winnies does a guy need really?

I will throw darts, as I have more time than money now. Just had to purchase a new heat pump for my house, the old 16 year old bit the dust. :argh: Have mercy on me Bob.

All,

I am glad your all in good spirits. Actually I am having a few problems with the program. I few tweaks here and there caused the last points to be added to the first halves totals. I had to manually correct it. Everything is OK but I have to fix it before the first half ends and the last half starts. You tweak one area to make something nicer not knowing that something else was just broken. PP :shoot: knows this intimately with BIABacus. Sometimes it's better to leave it as is? But when your "into it", it's easier said than done! I have failed leaving it alone again!

Today is the last cut of young players. We go from the 75 limit to the 53 final. On game day the team must pick 46 available to play that days game. Hearts and dreams will be broken. I always feel bad for them. They try so hard and fail to make it. I will have to delete the names from the pick lists and check if anyone already picked someone that is no longer with the team?

Remember that the NFL season starts Sunday but the first and only "Kick off" game is this upcoming Thursday September 4th. The Green Bay Packers play! They have been chosen to be sacrificed on the alter of the champions from last year!

Win or lose? the pleasure is in crushing your fellow brewers! :champ:

Maybe PP :shoot: will rejoin us to reclaim his crown? Big, Big prizes are awaiting the winners of the first half and second half! I bought a lot of prizes at the checkout while paying for gas. (petrol) :sneak:

Players.
The mighty Seahawks showed why they are world champs. The Packers were butt whooped good. I had high expectations for the defense but the Packers look lost in the second half. Lost and confused by the variety of plays run by the champs. Close at the half but a rout in the second half. Rodgers looked pedestrian and at times he looked frustrated by himself and his supporting cast. Eddie Lacy was stymied most of the time and looked as frustrated as Aaron Rodgers. Better luck next week?
