I’m in my mid 60’s and live in a small town south of Boston, Mass.
I got started brewing beer from Mr. Beer about 10 years ago but it was a real disaster. I gave up.
Two years ago a local Brew supply store held a seminar at my work place on home brewing so I decided to give it another try.
This time to my surprise the results were, to my undeveloped palate, very rewarding.
I currently brew with True Brew kits. I came across the BIAB concept on YouTube and it peaked my interest.
I have a Stainless Steel Keg that I bought for frying turkey – another disaster – and have been using it for clam boils, a traditional New England fare consisting of Clams, Corn on the Cob, Sausage, Linguica (a Portuguese Sausage pronounced Linguisa), Potatoes, Onions and maybe a Lobster or two.
The Keg has a threaded port near the bottom that is plugged. I was thinking of cleaning it up and using it for
a BIAB batch. Any helpful hints on where I should go from there would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,

I'm from the Kansas City area in the U.S. Have only brewed 2 partial extracts so far but wanted to get away from the use of extracts. I learned of BIAB from the forums and found your link. I'm in the process of locating a keg to make a kettle and I'll be ready for my first BIAB.
I'm in sales, travel quite a bit, with small children so the process of shorter brew days and clean-up drew me to BIAB.

Cheers :salute:

Hi all BIABrewers,

I am a 32 years old swiss graphic designer, and I don't know where it came from, but a few days ago the idea of brewing my own beer made its way into my head…

So after tons of readings, I came from being tempted by the "williamswarn personal brewery" through quickly dismissed extract kits and frightening messy "classic" processes involving trillions of steps and 42 vessels; finally, I stumbled into the BIAB concept and its surely well known here "woooo f*** brilliant idea" associated reaction :argh:

So here I am, learning as much as I can about the method, planning to brew my first beer in a couple weeks.

Cheers, and sorry for my english!

My name is Ed and I'm from Indianapolis Indiana (Home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, The Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers and the Butler U. Bulldogs).

I'm a biochemist and I've been brewing for about 9 months, all extract with steeped grain. I'm looking to expand my skills to include all grain and thought that BIAB might just be what I need.

Happy to be here and to have found this site (through Basic Brewing Radio).

Oh yeah, I'm also a two-day Jeopardy Champion from March 2006.

Hi
I live in Brisbane. Have been brewing for some time now, long enough to know what wine and beer made with cane sugar tastes like (mostly yuck). I read somewhere that AG was the cheapest way to make homebrew?? The main reason for starting to homebrew was to save some money and I needed a new project. What a can of worms that opened. As I already own two electric urns that are used for water purification, essence extraction and preservative sterilizing. 3V seamed the way to go, but I wanted to use 2 and electric no gas, HERMS or RIMS? 1 pump or 2? Batch or fly? Plate or counter? Then I tripped over the BIAB post on AHB witch lead me here and some of those videos on youtube started to make sense. Defiantly seams the way to go. I was looking forward to all those gizmos, the 809 PID SSR but being Queensland the tape water for the chillier is to hot and do you need some control of the element when the boil is reached? Just some of the questions not yet answered.

Greetings. My name is Andy Gamble, from Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. I found out about this place from someone at the homebrewtalk forum, and it looks like good info so far. I've brewed mead and sodas, but have yet to brew beer. I think my first batch just might end up being an all-grain BIAB stout.

Hi, my name is Jeff. I'm from Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

Just started with extracts about 2 months ago, looking for something more already and wanted to get into all-grain, then someone pointed out BIAB to me. Currently looking for a kettle, to get started.

Hey everyone,

I am from Ogden, Utah and I am new to home brewing. I only have two batches under my belt. I have brewed one extract and one partial extract and now I am thinking of moving on to all grain. I have heard about BIAB and thought I would give it a try. I heard about this site on another forum. I think this site is great and I feel it has a lot to offer no matter what experience level.

Thanks,

Tezz2 here. I live at Karaka, NZ and call my brewery "Windy Acres". Have completed 4 BIAB brews after finding information on the method on the Brewer Coops web site. They put me on to this site. I have just started brewing again after a stint in the late 1980's brewing with extract. So far the results are encouraging and the information on this site in fantastic.

Morning (at least, in EST) all! Ceejengine here, from Richmond, Va, USA. I stumbled over here from homebrewtalk.com after looking into a few different partial-mash/no sparge AG methods.

I've been brewing for a few months now (all extract & specialty grain), and would love to get into AG to increase the variety of beer, and decrease the cost. Sadly, I don't really have space for the HLT & MLT I'd need to use the usual AG methods, and BIAB seemed perfect.

Looking forward to poking around, and figuring out how best to do it in my cute little 30qt (28L) pot!

Hey everyone,

I'm from Manchester, England originally, but I have been living in Korea for the last ten years. I managed to tolerate Korean beer for too long and have just brewed a couple of extract kits. I have all the equipment ready to go and have worked out a couple of recipes, but think I might need some help with volumes and temps, but I think that belongs in another thread.

Cheers for the great site and the entire concept.

Joey

Hi there,

Just did my first BIAB two days ago. I was searching the internet for information on improving pre-boil efficiency and came across this site. It looks like the site could be useful.

I'm really excited about this style of brewing, as I've been brewing with extracts for ages and this gives me more control (and quality).

I'm from the Adelaide Hills

Cheers,
Schober

Looking forward to learning and meeting some new folks online.
