New here of course but also new to homebrewing, I am a retired American living in the Phiippines. I found you guys thru Google after I read a post on the net that said something to the effect that *those crazy aussies* are doing beer different by doing it in a sack.. I have been searching what I might do to make my first batch and not having to buy a cooler and convert it to a sparge unit appealled to me if for nothing more than finincial. Im sure this sounds like a thousand other first messages. My first impressions here have beeen confusing as I surely wouldnot have make it the way it is.. I find it a bit confusing as to getting around. Even finding this place to post first post was hard. And I tried to post..ie make a NEW POST..not REPLY to a Post. Maybe its picking the words apart but I think if it had been worded that we need to REPLY to a message it would be more clear>
O
But what the heck I got a cold and Im tired and not as young as I used to be..hehehe..Ok I look forward to reading the basics and being a pest as most do.. But Im sure I will stick around to answer questions once I have some experiences to share.
Be well..

Hi Lucas, du99 and northzak, welcome to BIABrewer, hope you find all the info you need to get brewing.
BIAB is no drama and I'm sure you guys will be fine, if you do need help don't be afraid to post your questions, there are some great brewers on here who will keep you right.

Hi all i am Tony from Melbournes South East. Was brewing for alot of years and gave it a miss for awhile and finally back into it using kits again so as to get a couple of brews under the belt before heading toward all grain. I have just recently discovered BIAB method and its the way i will go in the not to distant future.
Great forum tonnes of info and i hope to contribute more as time goes on.

Howdy All,
Aussie from Tasmania. Back into brewing after a few years break. Currently doing kits but looking to take it to the next level. Stumbled across BIAB. Can't believe how easy it makes moving to AG seem. I'm looking to brew quality beers that I can say I made myself. Thank for the site. I look forward to becoming part of the BIAB community. Cheers.

Hi All,
I'm posting from Toronto, Canada, and I stumbled across this site via Google. I've only brewed two partial extract (steeped) kits so far, and I was very disappointed to see that there was simply NO way I'd have the space to brew all-grain in my tiny apartment. Further probing led me here!
I'm a graduate student with more time and ambition than money, and BIAB seems like the solution I'm looking for!

Did my first BIAB about a month ago, and cracked the first bottle this weekend. EASILY the best beer I have ever made. I've only don about 10 brews using LME etc. No comparison. I am interested in learning a whole lot more. First BIAB was a 12lbs pale. OG 1.056. A winner!

I'm from Sydney, Australia. I found the site through AHB forum, and figured that the more information the better. I'm mad for coffee, beer, and sport.
My most recent brew was a kit + extract + hops APA that I'm about to bottle, and I have just ordered a grain bag and a few malts for my first AG attempt (a dark ale).

G’Day Brewers,
I’m from Cairns and have been brewing for about 3.5 years this time round, mainly extracts and a few kits. Done about 5 grain brews with the BIAB method and really enjoying the results.
Cheers,
Stagwa

Hi all. Thinking about getting started with BIAB and this looks like a great resource. Quick question: how do I get the necessary permissions to download the "commentary" PDF?

I'm new here today. My name is Chris, I started with Mr. Beer last Christmas. I have now brewed four 5 gallon batches, the last 2 being partial mash. I want to check out BIAB now to possibly avoid purchasing mashing equipment. I'll be quiet and look around now.

Hey everybody! I'm just getting ready to try my first all-grain brew, and BIAB seems like the way to go.

Hello everyone. My name is Bobby and I'm a software developer from Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. I am a new brewer (just bottled my 2nd batch). My first batch was a nut brown ale from an extract kit with specialty grains, and it was surprisingly decent. 2nd batch was a Rogue Dead Guy Ale clone partial mash which I have high hopes for. I am looking into making the jump to all grain brewing and BIAB seems like the way to go. Looking forward to learning from this site.

Hello there fellow beer lovers
I just finished reading the entire BIAG thread on Aussiehomebrewers and now have a much better understanding of how to go about my first all grain brew. My name on Aussiehomebrew is Bunyips (I didn't know FNQ Bunyip when choosing my name) so will be changing that soon. Spoken to FNQ a few times and am now also on a mailing list for bulk orders up here. Up here being out in the cyclone ravaged forests of El Arish
. Would just like to thank all the people who have put so much time and effort into developing such an awesome site as this one. Everyone so far has been happy and helpful since I decided to look into home brew. I no longer wish to be a slave to the bottlo.. At the moment I have a 50l kettle that looks astoundingly similar to a keg, a three ring burner and gas bottle and as of tomorrow some finely woven polyester curtain material, nylon string and some elastic from the big smoke!!! Will be buying enough grain to do at least 4 brews first up being Dr Smurtons Golden and the American Pale Ale. I see my biggest problem with summer coming along being the fermentation temp as it is about to get real hot. Was thinking of digging a cellar in under the house for this purpose... but will bite the bullet money permitting and get a beer mate and chest freezer to keep no chill and fermenters in. Stand alone solar system will run this no problems. Will be asking many questions in the near future on this site and look forward to new friendships and excellent advice as encountered so far into this journey.
Cheers Boys[/i]

Hello,
I'm from Edinburgh.
Started brewing from kits earlier this year. Hooked, and now want to brew own recipes.
Found the site through Google.
Good site, plenty to read.
Ex-IT worker, now trying to spend more time outdoors.

Hi All, I'm Gilly. Username Gill from homebrewandbeer (geoff and oliver's) and gillman from AHB.
I'm fairly new to homebrew (~10 bathces) and even newer to BIAB (2 mini/partial batches, about to upgrade). This seems to be a very knowledgeable forum, and as a fairly bright person I'm looking forward to learning and eventually contributing. Thanks all =)
Cheers, Gilly

Hi, all. I live in Athens, GA, USA. I'm a Family Physician who is now working in an Urgent Care Clinic after having spent 19 years in private practice in a small town. I don't drink a lot of beer - mainly only when it's being served at a party or other function. My 22 year old son has become sort of a beer snob, which got me interested in home brew. I've ordered my beginner equipment to start on a few extract batches.
So, I haven't actually brewed a beer, yet. This should happen within the next few weeks.
While surfing around MoreBeer's forum, I stumbled upon a few postings about BIAB. From there, I found a couple Aussie sites about BIAB - probably the one mentioned by the person a few posts above mine. Last night I finished all 35+ pages of the site.
I imagine that I will want to move to all-grain brewing before long, but I don't think I'll ever drink enough beer to make it work having all the equipment. I'm fascinated by the BIAB concept, so I look forward to trying it out as soon as we can.
I must share my free time (and extra money) with my other hobby - the pipe organ. I have a pipe organ that I'm working on which has about 800 pipes. It was partially playing when I had to pack it up and put it into storage as we're moving.
Thanks,
Keith
