Hi all. I'm Robert and I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife and 8 month old son. I stumbled upon the site while reading the homebrewtalk forums. I'm fairly new to brewing, but I've got 4 partial mash batches under my belt with nicely drinkable results. I wanted to dip my toe into all grain brewing and BIAB seems like a great way to try it out. My next brewing related project is a keggle conversion in preparation for my first BIAB batch. By day I work as a software engineer/sysadmin.

Hello boy's and girls :drink:

I'm a relatively new hb'r from Tauranga, New Zealand (aka the land of the long white sheep  ). I have done one extract and a few kits.

Have just aquired a 40l pot and a couple of 4 ring burners, all thats left is to find some swiss voile for my bag and I think I am good to go.

Stumbled across this site on AHB, it appears you have some very useful spreadsheets in here that I would love to have a look at ;)

Can't wait to get into it!!

Hi from Los Angeles, California. I am a fairly novice brewer with about 8 extract or partial mash brews under my belt. I have been exploring all grain and came across BIAB on the BeerSmith website. Hoping to try this method out. I will thank you for your help in advance!

Hello all,

Dave from Melbourne, Australia (not to be confused with Melbourne, Florida). I've done nearly 100 kit and kits'n'bits brews. This has to make a better product by all accounts.

Hello everyone,

Mike from the UK here. Got back into home brew a few months back having not done it for some 20 years. Can't believe how much better the kits are now, but the pull of all-grain is too strong :)

I've got quite a bit of my AG stuff together already but having read much of the info on this excellent site I realise I can get started sooner. Really looking forward to doing my first BIAB next weekend!

Hi All,

Looks like a great site.
My names Marty, am from Sydney via Newcastle. Have recently been using Dave's Stove top method of brewing, partial grain in a bag, and came across this site throught the brewsmith site. I am keen to move to BIAB in the future and this is the site for it by the looks of things.

I work full time, but find enough time to brew and have been doing it for a few years now. I am looking forward to attaining a better beer to go in my beer fridge/tap set up.

I look forward to learning more

Cheers

Marty

Cheers for the warm welcome Pat. I do have to say I am still currently Internet-less at the moment with the legal process still churning slowly on the farm transfer. It does not bode well in that area for mobile internet as the signal for phones can be found up on the road (the high point) so I may end up with limited access to participate on all the brewing forums. I would have to wait to drive to the next largest town with a library where I could book an hour on their computers for internet :o .

Technical issue, I can not read the forum on my nokia phone during rides on the train as google or something steps inbetween and translates the site into something unreadable and unable to log in through nokia phone so I'm a bit dead in the water at the moment.

Cheers,
Brewer Pete

Just to clear up any name confusion, it appears Michael is known on here as Beachbum, a more fitting moniker by far .

Sorry to hear we will have to wait a bit longer until you get decent internet access Pete .

In the meantime, I will let NME know of your phone access problems.

Cheers,
Pat

Hello all,

Just a quick hello really from Cambridgeshire UK. I've done one BIAB all-grain brew a year or so ago and then time/space hasn't allowed me to do much since then. The taste and quality was far superior to any of the many kits I had messed with, but I somehow ballsed up the calculations and ended up with an Irish Red Ale that was very very weak. I know it's not a strong style but something went wrong.

Anyhoo, I'm back in the game and hope to improve a lot on this first effort. I'm going to ease myself in by doing the mini-BIAB APA recipe and then try to get the Beersmith calculations right for a Bitter & Twisted copy.
Someday I will crack the Irish Red and get it up to spec.

Laters,
Nick

Greetings all,

I am from Michigan, USA and discovered this forum--and BIAB--from Pat's interview on the Beersmith podcast. I've been extract brewing for over a year and wanted to get into all grain, but was intimidated by the cost and complexity. This is the first I've heard of single vessel brewing and I'm really excited to try it now! There isn't much talk of BIAB here in the US and it's hard to find much info about it here. But, this seems like a great community and I look forward learning and interacting with everyone.

Cheers!

Hello I'm Steve.
I live in Upstate New York, USA.
I came upon this site after checking out a podcast on the BeerSmith blog site.
This site, as well as BIAB, are very interesting to me.
I have two extract brews under my belt so far.
I'm a building automation engineer, but like to keep my hobbies simple.
This technique seems to fill that bill.
I look forward to learning and, eventually, contributing.

Hi everyone, my name is Jeff and I am originally from Gloucestershire in the UK but have been living in California for the last 20 years. I found this site after listening to a recent beersmith podcast. This site is obviously the place to come to learn about the BIAB technique, I have been a brewer for a number of years but never ventured into all-grain mainly due to the additional space and equipment required so I am keen to try this out and hope to next weekend. I work in high tech in what is known as Silicon valley, it is a very nice area with a great climate and certainly a change from my homeland. California has a great craft brew scene which I enjoy but still can't beat sitting in a small village pub in the UK and supping down some decent Ale...that is if you can find one!

Hi

*waves*

My name's Matt, I'm a relatively new brewer from the UK.

I was bought a homebrew beginner's kit last xmas, and since then I've done a couple of nice but generally not 100% satisfactory kit brews. I've just done my first extract brew, which promises so far (from slurping the samples after gravity tests) to be *much* better than the kits were. I ought to be bottling that at the weekend.

I've stumbled onto this site after general 'net based research into everything homebrew. Seen a couple of BIAB videos, and it seems to be the perfect method for my circumstances - I'll be brewing in the kitchen, on my stove, becuase I haven't got the room for a full-on Full Mash set-up which seems, in the UK, to be more common than BIAB.

Apart from that I'm a full on beer enthusiast of many years standing. I don't really have a favourite style. I love golden summer ales, for long sunny outdoor sessions; I love rich dark full-bodied porters and stouts in front of the fire in winter; I love super hoppy IPAs. You name it.

I think my favourite beer of all time is Woodforde's Wherry from Woodbastwick near where I'm from in Norfolk. The real thing, not the kits they make. Although there's a place for those as well (I've got one of them conditioning in a keg at the moment - although it's not the straight kit - I monkeyed around with it, adding black treacle and whatnot).

So yeah, that's me. Catch you around.

hi all,
I live in the Littlehampton, South Australia. Ive been brewing for about 10 years. Mainly extract with grain brews. I discovered biab from a podcast on the brewing network. I have always wanted to make the switch to all-grain, and this seems like the ideal way to do it.
I work in a hotel and have good commercial beer knowedge as well. I hope that i can help new brewers as well as learning as much as i can myself.

Cheers!!

Hi

I'm Phil from near Manchester, UK.
Looking to start brewing and building up my knowledge reading all sorts of forums (Jim's Beer Kit and Here) and books. I'm thinking of going down the small batch biab route as there isn't enough space in the house for the traditional 3 vessel brewing method.

Hi Phil

Welcome to the forum, I'm near Manchester (Bolton), Glad to see your considering BIAB, it really is a great method and very easy. Just ask away with any question you have and someone on here will sort you out.

I've got a good local Voile supplier, let me know if you need the address.
