Hi all,

I'm from Safety Beach (near Coffs Harbour) NSW.

I've been brewing with extracts + steep + hop schedules. For me, there was a big increase in beer quality after switching from kits to extract + steep, so I've been thinking about going AG using an electric urn for BIAB.

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this site (think it may have been from a link in Aussiehomebrewer) but it looks like a fantastic resource. So I'm looking forward to learning lots about BIAB and perhaps making a humble contribution
as I learn.

I haven't purchased an urn yet, but I'm looking around.

Cheers,

Tony

Hi, I'm from England. I came across this site from a link on Jim's beer kit forum. I have never brewed before but I'm looking to jump right in at the deep end as I want to brew AG so I can make beer exactly as I want. I don't drink a lot really but I'm interested in good beer, usually dark.

Hi Everyone!

I'm from Trowbridge, Wiltshire in the UK.

I have been trying kits so far but want to move on from what is a "just add water" process to all grain brewing. The cost and complexity of AG has put me off until I came across a link to this site on a BIAB thread on http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum

I look forward to joining the BIAB family and hope to be able to contribute with my own experiences as I progress.

Hi Everyone,

I'm from Adelaide in South Australia.

I've just got back into home brewing after a long break.

I came across this site via google after searching for homebrewing info.

I'm pretty keen to start BIAB and I'm doing some research in order to make a simple setup.

looking forward to my new hobby

Hi All, first post here - hoping for some sanity and less troublemakers than around other parts of the oz brewing internet.

Been BIAB'ing for a while now, and it suits me more than 3V which just takes up too much space, for no extra gain in what I hope to achieve. Don't brew many big beers and when I do I have/will either add some liquid malt to a batch or set up for a double batch 3V with a friend who's also a keen brewer.

My set up is all electric, and I no-chill instead of immersion chiller because again, it suits me better to brew when I am able, and pitch whenever I am ready. I lean towards culturing up liquid yeasts over dried packets, and am in the final stages of assembling a stir plate. Recently bought a dedicated fridge that's happily working away with the attached temp controller. Entered my first ever comp last year and did surprisingly well, which is a testament to the BIAB process when the beers are measured against more experienced 3V'ers. Modestly aside, I have every intention of cleaning up at the 2011 state comp with a few future BIAB brews.

:champ:

I'll say in advance, thanks for having me, and I hope I can contribute some info for a few of the novice BIAB'ers finding their feet, and also gain a bit of knowledge while I'm at it.

Welcome Ted! Which state are you in? Its good to know who's competing in which comps, particularly those flying the BIAB flag. Hope to see your name in this thread soon!
BTW, even though many of the core team are Australian, the forum is indeed international! Have a look through the last few pages of this thread you'll see many countries represented, lots from the UK of late but also US & Canada, Scandinavia, mainland Europe, Africa, so scattered all over the globe.

Also, welcome to all other folks who've recently joined. JBK has indeed been kind to us, that's why I've been willing to help out over there, good will is best as a two- way thing.

[BTW Mods: Looks like MurrayDrankster was missed in the approvals. Sorry Murray.]

Hi All,

Small time brewer from Camden NSW. Haven't done a brew for a while. Was given a non alcohol or anything interesting order from the doctor a while ago and that basically put a stop to my brewing. Last brew I did was about 18 or more months ago and was a BIAB Double Bock.

Sick of buying beer so want to start brewing again and to get the BIAB going after a little absence. Great to have a site with so much info about BIAB.

Cheers, Tre.

Hi Everyone,

Dan in the UK here. Been brewing on and off for a few years now and have dabbled in kits, extracts, partials and AG brews. Really enjoying AG brewing but find that 3-V brewing takes up a lot of space and time. While sniffing around UK forums I stumbled on the BIAB method and a bit of googling landed me here. I'm really intrigued by the idea and others related to this that seem to dispell brewing dogma. I wish i'd found out about this prior to going for broke with the 3-V system. Very tempted to give this a whirl and see where I land. I especially like Ralph's posts on the virtues of mini and maxi BIAB. A great guide and brilliant way to cut your teeth in the BIAB world.

Thanks for all the info and looking forward to giving it a go. Just got to get some net curtains....

Dan

Hello and happy New Year from Greece, the Old Side of the World, recently member of the Poor Side of it

My limited brewing experience involves only some beer-kits but I do have dreams, as anyone else does...

I'm sure that discovering this brilliant e-place is a pathway to my brewing dreams, starting from collection of information, literature and understanding the essentials. Then I'll assemble my gear, then go brewing good beers and finaly go microbrewer ;)
Dreams are free, isn't they?

G'day all, Matt here from Adelaide, South Australia.
I'm another who has come from aussiehomebrewer.
I've been brewing for many years, started with kits and then on to partial grain which are now done by BIAB.
With a new house comes room for a dedicated brew area, so it's time for AG.
cheers.

Have fun Wootsauce and make sure you start a thread telling us how it goes. Plenty of top brewers in Melbourne so your brewing career is looking good.

Thanks agior and all the others above who make this thread such a fascinating and enjoyable thread to read. I have actually read every post in this thread - it's one of my favourites. If I acknowledged every post I enjoyed here though I'd get no sleep so...
