hello everybody I am new to making home brew I have done a few kits which have been ok but ended up reading a thread on another forum about simple all grain so jumped in and made my first all grain stout which is now about to be bottled tonight.
I found this site by looking into BIAB to understand the process and to see if I am doing things correctly also to expand on my first brew. I am from yorkshire and like the Idea of keeping things as simple as possible BIAB seems to be the way for me, I am looking forward to getting my next brew going and also experimenting with my first recipe to understand how altering grains changes the taste, thanks wayne.

Hi all I'm Dan from Alamo, CA, USA. I'm a novice brewer, done a few extract kits, always wanted to get to all-grain brewing but was put off by the equipment, space requirements etc.. Learned about BIAB about a year ago, googled that and found BIABrewer.info. I tried a modification (added home grown hops) to Lloyd's Krispy Kolsch BIAB and discovered I could make a delicious beer from "scratch". I am hooked!
I am working full-time with travel and family commitments so can't seem to get more than one brew day a year. Pretty sad I know but I'm probably about 5+ years from retirement and hopefully a lot more brew time! I am looking forward to learning a lot from this site and brewing again very shortly.

Hello, Darrell here, from Deerfield, NJ. Brewed my first extract batch yesterday and immediately knew that I wanted to have more control as to what goes in and on in my wort, without spending all my beer money. A little bit of poking around on the web led me here.
Hope to learn much, and contribute whenever I can.

Darrell - welcome to the forum. I brewed extract for years, did my best with it and it was good... But then switched to whole grain BIAB and it was great!! Welcome to the forum and let us know what questions you have. Lots of info available on this site.

Hey all-
I'm from Michigan. Been making wine and mead for ten years but just started making beer about a year ago. Started out doing mostly extracts, but have now done 4 BIABs. So I'm still a novice and looking for help to improve my technique. I have a chemistry/lab background so I enjoy learning about the technical aspects.

Fun4stuff - You will find your lab experience pairs well with the Biabacus, it almost functions as your electronic notebook. You control time and temperature and the overall process, so do the lab thing and keep additional good records. After the waiting for beer part is over, enjoy the results. If you post your Biabacus file on this site, you can get good guidance either ahead of time, or on what to change next time. This comes from a long-time process chemist with great appreciation for what is here.

Hello everyone, nice to be here! My name's Andy, I live in Northern Europe. I've recently started brewing together with my brother. We have made a couple of surprisingly not undrinkable batches so far, but (for a start) we need to get better at converting standard recipes to micro-batch (1-2 gal) BIAB recipes. So we are interested in the BIABacus and general info on this site. Look forward to learning and having a few beers with you guys,

Hello Fellow Brewstars, my name is David but everyone calls me Pilch.
1. Where are you from?
I live in the Barossa Valley wine region of South Australia in a small town called Lyndoch.
2. How did you stumble across the site?
Whilst researching on line.
3. What you think of it so far?
Looking the goods so far.
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
My wife made the fateful mistake of buying me a Coopers DIY homebrew kit for Christmas last year and has since complained that I am drinking too much beer and spending too much money on home brew stuff? go figure hey?!
I started out with a couple of straight forward extract recipes which I didn't think much of. Then I moved onto some recipes that started with a commercial liquid extract (kit)can but also included partial grain mashes, hops and other adjuncts which I had some pleasing success with, but now I think I would like to try some all grain brews.
I was a little put off by all the extra "stuff" it looked like I was going to need when I started researching the process and thought "why cant I just use one pot and put the grains in a bag to be pulled out at the right time during the process"? further research uncovered the whole BRIAB concept, my prayers had been answered. I'm still not sure on a couple of the details but I'm piecing it all together slowly, I will ask a few questions in the appropriate threads very soon and hopefully fill in the last few missing pieces in my head.
I have a brew fridge with a temp' controller set up in my shed which makes maintaining stable temp's for fermenting a whole lot easier but I will need to pick up a couple of extra bits of kit before my first BIAB.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I run the Emergency Services department for one of Australia's prominent oil and gas producers based in the South Australian and South West Queensland's Cooper Basin region on a 2on/2off fly in fly out (FiFo) bases. This roster makes it a little tricky to get a brew fermented and bottled in one shift home sometimes but I have managed it so far.
Thanks for taking me in and I would like to wish you all a safe and happy Christmas.

I am just getting into partial and eventually all grain brewing after many kit and kilo home brews a few years back.
Just drinking a stone and wood clone partial and loving the galaxy taste and aromas.
Next step is a full ag version so its time to research BIAB...
Looking forward to being part of this forum.
I'm at Newcastle, NSW Australia.
Cheers,
BGT

BGT - welcome to the forum and Merry Christmas!
We all believe BIAB is the way to go with full grain beer. Don't have to use near as much equipment to get an excellent end result product - great beer. There's lots of great advice on the site. Check it out and let us know if you have any questions.

Merry Xmas all. I'm from the Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia. I've been experimenting for a couple of years now with BIAB with a few successes and some massive fails. Big fan of keeping things simple. Looking forward to joining the community.

Please make sure you start a new thread on your whole experiences with as much detail as you can provide. All of us who have experienced "massive fails" can often prevent others doing the same. It also usually provides a bit of comedy.
Welcome aboard, PP.

Hello and Cheers...
I'm Eric and live in Indiana...
I've brewed 2 extract batches with steeping grains... I'm ready to move to all grain and scale down to 3 gallon batches... I really like the minimal equipment and ease associated with BIAB... So after reading and searching I found this site with its wealth of information...
Thank you for all your input...

Hi,
First time posting here!
Im from the UK and came across this site after seeing it mention on thehomebrewforum.co.uk
Im looking to progress my home-brew skills from kits which i have been tinkering with for just over 1 year to BIAB and thought this would be the place to use and for everyone out there to help me!
Im sure its not a difficult process, but like anything sometimes you just need that helping hand!
Also looking forward to using the BIAB recipe calculators.
Thanks

Hi, I'm Chris from Ottawa, Canada. I'm just getting into brewing. I was inspired by the kitchns Beer School, and followed up with The Complete Joy of Homebrewing. I helped a buddy brew his first AG batch and I'm getting ready to try my own. I ordered a bunch of equipment and it should be in tomorrow.
I found BIABrewer through the Canadian Homebrewers forum as several people recommended BIABacus. I'm looking forward to trying that.
I work for a large company, I repair and maintain central heating and cooling. I have about a hundred different hobbies and I'm excited to add brewing to the mix!

Welcome Chris(Niab),
Starting to brew with BIAB is the Best way to Brew Great Beer.
The Learning Curve is Steep, if you have never brewed before.
But after a while, you will be brewing from memory, with the Instructions from BIABACUS.
Check post #6970 Above for all you need to start!
