I have been brewing for four or five years now. I've made a half dozen or so batches using biab. All of those batches have turned out great. I first found instructions in Zymurgy magazine and have been using those methods ever since. I'm glad to have finally looked at this site. Waiting to learn even more about biab.

All,

I currently live in South Carolina but I grew up in Oregon. By day I work for a major tire manufacturer, at night (or the weekend), I brew. I started brewing back in 2013 but took a year break and just recently started back up. After a couple of extract brews, I was itching to try All-Grain but didn't want to invest in the equipment. After some googling I stumbled across the BIAB method. I've got my 2nd BIAB batch in the fermenter, the 8th batch that I've ever made. The simplicity of the method is great! I learned about this site while listening to the Beer Smith Podcast and I'm looking forward to learning more from it.

Thanks,
rgweatherford

diowk, welcome aboard! I'm glad you are enjoying the wealth of info here! I tend to get obsessed with my hobbies as well but I find its an advantage really, my wife may not agree though. Anyway, take it all in, or at least some of it, and get brewing! Looking forward to hearing how it goes!

Hey Folks. new to BIAB but for sure not new to brewing. Been brewing better part of 30 years, mostly all grain.
just sold my 3 vessel single tier and replaced it with a Colorado Brewing Systems single vessel with 400 micron basket. Needed the space.

I'm from north central Alabama in the USA. Fairly new to brewing. Before I invest too much in equipment I started researching the different brewing methods. I like the simplicity and elegance of BIAB, so I will probably to that route, but I want to read more and learn more first. I'm an industrial designer, specializing in exhibits, simulators, and products. I also design and fabricate custom furniture and architectural millwork (high end doors, tables, mantels, etc.). So I'm a tinkerer at heart.

Hey Jordan, welcome aboard! I hear you on the free time thing, I have three sons all 5 and under so I know where you are coming from. The biabacus will answer 'how thick my mash should be', to maintain temp insulate your pot and leave a thermometer in if you can - if it falls more than a couple degrees turn the stove back on, and as for sparging - if you have a big enough vessel that you don't have to, then don't.

Happy brewing!

I'm an expat Brit living in France. I'm making the move from extract kits to BIAB - so far I've done 1 BIAB batch during which almost everything went wrong... This forum looks like just what I need.

Hello from Long Island NY, have been brewing extract for about two years, want to take my hobby a step further, and get into BIAB.
I been looking for a how too or what to do thread but I have not found any here yet.
Do I order a all grain kit, at first?
Then follow the instructions there?
do I need a kit specificity for BIAB?
Thanks
