So I already did my first BIAB batch and had ok outcome. I had an 18 pound grain bill and ended up with 1.043 OG. I thought it should have been a lot more then that. The problem was that I started drinking early and forgot a couple of steps(did not mash out or sparge).
This time I will be brewing sober to record everything that I am doing. I will be brewing 7 gallons of wheat beer and splitting it into 2- 3.5 gallon batches to later add cherries in one and the other will be lemon. Here is what the recipe will be. Ley me know if I am on the right track. Thanks!!!
6 pounds American 2 row
6 pounds Wheat Malt
1 pound Crystal 20L
1 oz Willamette @ 60 min
1.5 oz Cascade @ 15 min
.5 oz Cascade @ 5 min
WLP 300 yeast (1 tube per 3-1/2 gal batch)

The Crystal will darken it up some...I just brewed a Hefe last week with 5lb 2Row 5lb Wheat Malt, and my proboil gravity was 1.050. I did not sparge, i did a 60 min mash, then brought temp up to 170* then let it mash out for 10 min. The color was very light.
FG was 1.053....So your gravity should be higher then mine maybe 1.055-1.065
Good luck!! I'm interested in how this turns out with the Cherries and lemon!
ohh and I never drink until i'm boiling!

I figured out why my OG was so low on my first batch. My Hydrometer is WAY off. I ended up with a final gravity of .993. So I checked it in just water and it was not even on the scale. It was measuring somewhere around .900 with just water. Time for a new hydrometer.

Ah! Caught out by one of the seven!
Good find kmcace
. It's more common than you think. Make sure you check the other six things though as they are also common and often happen in combination
.
