I think they get used a lot down here in oz, particularly in party/portable keg setups. You might want to search http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com I think they get a bit of use from the guys on that forum.

Oops. I missed this one somehow.

I recently used a soda stream bottle for my portakeg setup with one of these adapters. They work pretty well, but I wouldn't recommend using them without some thread tape over the end. Also, the washer than came with mine was too thick, so I had to get a skinnier one.

+2 on the thread tape. These adaptors leak without it. I went through a full cylinder before working out that it was leaking. Since ive been taping the thread on the cylinders ive had no issues
