I love the Sam Smith's Nut Brown Ale but I don't like Newcastle Brown (its flavour is one dimensional). It's a great style and your recipe looks good and is very close to the next batch I am planning in this style.

I wouldn't use the fuggles at 0mins but that's my personal take on it. I see it as more about the malt than the hop flavour/aroma. Actually I don't use hops at flameout or dry hop for any of my English bitters either.

Cheers :luck:

redlegger,
How did your brown come out? Have you brewed any more browns? I brewed this recipe below twice now, got it off Homebrewtalk.com from a member Lil' Sparky. I like it and members of my beer club does too. My aunt was just down from Chicago IL and loved it, said "it's worth moving down here". She's retired so we'll see.

Anyway your recipe at first glance looks similar to this one. I'm not an expert but try adding some oats. My HBS only had golden naked oats, http://morebeer.com/view_product/11414/ ... _Oats_1_lb I understand you can make your own in the oven with rolled oats, bake until kitchen smells good and let sit over night.

I'm hoping to brew this one day as a BIAB and then sell my MLT, 2 chillers, pump and tubing.
