The Basics of Hopping

Post #1 made 14 years ago
[Like all, "The Basics," in the General Brewing Skills section, the following is not a definitive guide. It is simply a guide that will get a new brewer under way safely and with confidence. Please advise BIABrewer of any errors. Please justify, in full, any contrary topics that you may choose to start in this forum. If well-written and justified, they will be, "promoted," as best as we are able.]

This article is still to be written. If you would like to write this article, please PM BIABrewer.

Note that this article needs to make the following points...

1. How hop additions are timed. Make sure it is clear that the timing works backwards from the end of the boil not forwards from the start. This has caushgt one or two new brewers out.

2. Explain how and when bittering, flavour and aroma hops are added.

3. Link to other ways of hopping such as FWH, dry hopping etc.
