A 'sort of' mini BIAB tonight Graff cider.

Post #1 made 9 years ago
Hi guys,

I'm doing this recipe tonight http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f81/graff-m ... er-117117/

I'm using a hop bag to hold the small amount of grain (micro BIAB), I've converted the recipe to metric measurements, then did a quick calculation to scale it back to ingredients needed per litre, so I can quickly scale it anytime, depending on how much cheap juice I can find!

I have 9.6L of Berri apple juice on hand, so I'll brew that tonight.

No BIABacus, as this is really just a quick fun brew to try. I'll post the scaled recipe etc later and will let everyone know how it goes. The recipe has good ratings though and I'm expecting it to be pretty good.

nicko,

All forms of brewing are fun as long as we are happy with the results. I try to have at least one tap with Cider on my beer fridge!
tap 1 Raspberry wine
tap 2 Bourbon Barrel Porter
tap 3 Czech Pilsner
tap 4 Triple IPA 11% ABV

Pipeline: Mulled Cider 10% ABV

The short of it is "I have none"?? For the last year I have been trying everything and liking all of it. I started with just a hopped cider. I moved on to a cross between beer and cider with some malt extract and cider. I get (in season) fresh squeezed cider from a local orchard. I also use frozen concentrate from the local mega-mart out of season. (most of the time.)

Last Summer I just used concentrate with wine yeast and root beer extract to make a fun and tasty drink. I just put a Ginger Cream Orange cider on tap this week trying to emulate http://www.crabbiesgingerbeer.com/ My wife loves it but it's imported here and expensive.

I use this cider "kick?" I am on, to fool around and try crazy things. It's fast, simple and "open ended" meaning I have no boundaries to cross and no one to answer too. How about a "Ham and Pineapple" cider??????

Cider recipes are all over the internet and you tube. I get ideas there but so far I am winging it!

Cool mate, I was doing just store bought juice, some dextrose and wine/champagne yeast but the finish was very dry, this latest version I've done is supposed to be sweeter, I could back sweeten in the keg but I'm bottling this lot.
