It never fails...

Something always goes wrong.. Here's the grain bill for a little recipe I am brewing at this moment. 5 gallon batch.

5 lb. maris otter
1 lb. Mild malt
.5 lb. Chocolate malt
.5 lb. Honey malt

I forgot to add the chocolate and I am just about mid boil.... Any way to fix this?

beerbud,

As it's a steeping grain, you can steep it fo say 10 minutes in some hot water and then add the result into the kettle. If it's too late to add it to the boil, just make sure you boil it for 15 minutes before adding it to the fermentor.

It'll be fine

It Never Fails...

My last brew was a 1/2 batch, and when I got up to Strike Temp., my bag was GONE! I still haven't found it. :sneak:

I can honestly say I haven't had that problem yet.... Well... It's been cooled and added to the original wort. Put it in the fermentation chamber to cool some more. Will pitch in a couple hours. Fingers crossed, lesson learned.

If you are reusing the yeast-cake? Transfer to a secondary and add a (hand full) of cocoa nibs to it. Or just dump 1/4 cup of cocoa nibs to the primary and leave it a couple of weeks. Look up cocoa nibs on the internet and keep some on hand for adding to beer!
tap 1 Raspberry wine
tap 2 Bourbon Barrel Porter
tap 3 Czech Pilsner
tap 4 Triple IPA 11% ABV

Pipeline: Mulled Cider 10% ABV
