So..
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to brew another batch of IPL.
The first batch came out pretty good and I saved enough yeast slurry for a healthy starter.
I also had a ton of things to do around the house so, once I mashed in, I started on my chores. Stirred at 30-minute intervals and paid no attention to the process.
Got the boil going and proceeded back to work. Sometime into the boil (was it 90 minutes? 60? 45?) I had no idea and panicked because I hadn't even thought about hops. Figuring I was late and had to make my addition RIGHT NOW, I dumped 1.5 oz x 3 varieties into the wort. Breathing a sigh of relief, I decided to figure out when I really started the boil and where I was volume-wise. The 4.5 oz of hops went in at 60 minutes and my calculators were telling me I had 130IBUs if I went the whole 90.
In for a penny, In for a pound - I did not want to stop at 1.045 and let it go the final 30 minutes - I even added another 1.5 oz at flameout.
This should be an interesting brew.
