First AG and first BIAB under my belt!

Post #1 made 13 years ago
I brewed my first AG batch last night. All of the stress and apprehension I was feeling beforehand was completely unnecessary. It was just as easy as an extract batch with steeping grains, just a little longer with more lifting. The BIABAcus did a great job of taking the guess work out of Mash volumes and strike temp. If only I could get used to my Beersmith app reminding me to put my chiller in the kettle (when I've already put it in) and that it ISN'T time for my aroma hop addition :headhit: , this would have been my nicest brewday yet.

I'm very glad to have finally joined the All Grain brewing crowd. I just wish I didn't have to wait SO long to taste the final product!

Thanks to Jimmy http://www.biabrewer.info/memberlist.ph ... ile&u=4165 and http://www.biab-brewing.com for the bag.

Cheers

JackRussel,

You have joined our happy band of scallywags and thieves. Waiting for a month is tough if you only have one brew. As you get a few more brews under your belt (and they will end up there eventually) you will be sampling new beer more frequently. Your beer! Welcome to the international BIAB'ers club!
tap 1 Raspberry wine
tap 2 Bourbon Barrel Porter
tap 3 Czech Pilsner
tap 4 Triple IPA 11% ABV

Pipeline: Mulled Cider 10% ABV

Thanks Bob, I'm working on getting a good pipeline going. 3 fermenters in use and 2 batches bottled and chilling in the cellar. Ingredients for my next 5 batches ordered.

I think I'll be packing on a few pounds in the coming months.

Cheers

JackRussel,

That's the ticket! As long as your brewing up a storm you will be trying new beers each week! As they change over time it seems like you get to "try it for the first time" twice

It is a problem. You know now that I think of it? That is a draw back to BIAB! The three vessel brewers do so much extra work that they sweat off more weight than BIAB'ers do! :smoke:

Cheers!

Thanks Jimmy. The bag worked out very nicely. I'm itching to get to get the next batch going. Maybe Sunday if I'm not too hungover after the GSP fight on Saturday!

Cheers
