10, 5, 0 min additions straight into the cube

Hi there,

Has anyone added the 10, 5 and 0 min additions straight into the cube and then filled with the hot wort? Do you think it would make it to bitter or to much of a hop blast? The recipe I was looking at has 30g of cascade at each addition (so 90g in a hop sock and bang it into the cube) I am looking for a more hopper flavour. It's a black IPA

Hi Natdene, I think that will be really good and you should try it.

Joshua posted a good link before that might interest you http://byo.com/component/k2/item/2808-hop-stands. If I remember right, in there they say to pull the hops after a certain time, but I wouldn't do that. My hops always stay in right to the end (through the ferment even) and I love the taste.

I have put all my hops (Cascade, 8oz in 5 gallons) in at flamout before, with no other additions, and left them in through a no-chill which took 36 hours to reach pitching temp, then pitched and left the hops in through the ferment for 10 days and I liked the result very much.
