On Sunday, for reasons explained in this post, we'll move BIABrewer.info from the current shared server to a dedicated server. Before we do that, could you test the site's speed and post your results?

The only way I know of doing it properly (without any third party tools) is using Chrome so please post if you know how to do the following with another browser and I'll update this post.

Testing Using Chrome (Test 1 - No Cache)

1. Click the BIABrewer.info logo (the tired bloke, top-left).
2. Press F12
3. Make sure 'Network' is selected
4. Make sure 'Disable cache' is ticked  5. Press F5
6. Record the info (see next post for an example).  7. Do Test 2 as soon as possible

Testing Using Chrome (Test 2 - Cached)

1. Un-tick the 'Disable cache' check-box
2. Refresh the page by either clicking the tired old man or the circle thing left of the address bar
3. Record the info (see next post for an example)

Please...

A. Post Your Results Immediately (so we know what time you conducted the test)
B. Give as much info as you are prepared to re your location

I am having very random things happening here. For example, my laptop which is physically plugged into the same modem as my main computer is, at time of writing, getting the blue while this, my main computer, is getting the green.

Not too sure how many times I have cleared server caches and browser caches today but I reckon we just let it ride for 48 hours?

Well, that's been 48 hours so I'd expect things to have settled down now. It would be great to get some more data as if things remain slow, I'll contact the new host. I've done several tests and they are very erratic. Will add four of the uncached results below, in order, all taken within a minute or two of each other.

There's something definitely not right. I seriously doubt it is the new host, probably more something to do with how we've set the host up.

Will see if Simo can take a look soon as I think identifying the problem will need his advanced skills.
