   I've off over to chilly Las Vegas in 2 weeks for a week with work.
   I was there in October and I'm a bit bored of the strip and would love to go to a good bar to try some quality American craft beer.
   
   Any of you guys here recommend a bar or two? Ideally it would serve food as well so I can then expense the beer as well as the food :drink:

   Ha ha Chesl, yep Tennents Super (Scottish tramp juice), apparently used to have lager lovelies printed on the can too (late 1980's).
   BTW - Lager lovelies = female models! I don't think you get away with that now either :dunno:

   Hey Todd, have you brewed this yet? I brewed up another batch on Monday. I replaced all the carapils with the crystal, and am fermenting with Pacman yeast. Am thinking of dry hopping with 1oz citra pellets for the last 3 days of secondary. Do you think a low gravity beer will stand up to this?

   Thanks to my wife and mother in law I have my first BIAB bag. I used the recommendations of BIABrewer.info but adjusted the height a little to have some more overhang.
   
   Top = kettle top circumference (3.14 x diameter x 0.5) x 1.15
   Height = kettle height x 1.50 + 1inch for drawstring or elastic.
   Base = kettle base diameter x 0.85
   
   After sewing using a roll stitch for the hem and interlocking stitch for strength I ended up with the follow dimensions
   
   Top = 27.5 inches
   Height = 30.5 inches

   Bought mine from brewinabag.com and really like it.
   Sewn in webbing and handles made hoisting it really easy and the extra handle on the bottom made it super easy to empty.

    I entered this event , and was confirmed a table yesterday. :party:
    
    Basically I take 5 gallons of beer, my girlfriend and I will pour samples for a few hundred people. Whoever gets the most votes wins. 40-50 homebrewers are expected, and about 300+ tasters?
    
    Fegley's is the brewery. They are just a small, local joint with a great atmosphere. The Allentown location is where the event will be, thank goodness. I do like the Bethlehem location, but it can get rowdy/noisy there. It's much more...

    Very good write-ups Rick. Have really enjoyed reading them. I think a lot of comps etc are way under-resourced for how much effort you give them. There are enough hardships in officially run wine and beer judging comps, let alone the one you have gone into above.
    
    I think it's really important to never forget that the best judge of your own beer are often yourself and the people closest to you. For example, Dr Smurto's Golden Ale which is very much like NRB's All Amarillo APA, scored low points...

    Is there a calculator with US units used instead of metric? I tried searching but didnt get any hits..
    I find it hard to try to convert it and then reconvert it back and all that jazz. Or could i just convert the figures in the spreadsheet. and if that does anyone know the conversions that i should use.

    I've been looking for a large, variable temperature vessel that can handle somewhere between a 3-5 gallon BIAB session. However it appears that US consumers are not too keen on electric urns as they are referred to by most non-US brewers. Do any of you other US brewers have one, and if so where did you buy it (preferrably in the US so I don't pay really high shipping charges)?

    Beer update #2: Still aging in the carboy, it smells wonderful so I decided not to muck it up by adding fruit or oak. I'll bottle it at its first birthday in a couple of weeks.

    I've got my first two BIAB beers in bottles right now and I'm wondering if there's any interest in doing a bottle swap?
