I am generally a fairly private person, so I don't usually share my life sob story, but hear me out please because I think hearing/reading it may prevent a lot of unnecessary suffering.       following 18 odd months of cancer struggles,
      he leaves behind a impressive legacy and was quite simply the inventor of the technique that has revolutionized modern home and small scale brewing,

      we are holding a wake in his honor at Clancy's pub in Fremantle,

   8. Rolling with the punches on a double batch

      So on my second double batch day I'd attempted I was a bit disorganised and short of sleep after recovering from illness.
      
      Here are all the .. ahem.. challenges I confronted.
      
      1 On the night before brew morning I was filling my kettles and was eyeing the sealed bags of grain from the LHBS. One should have been bigger than the other as one batch was for 26L and the other only 13L yet they looked bloody similar. I checked my Biabacus files vs the LHBS receipt and to my horror found I'd ordered...

      Recently I picked up on something new I have never done until now . I got interested in the low oxygen brewing website and picked up another (cold side tip).
      
      Ever since I have been pressure fermenting I have been just letting it ferment all the way it would go, then at FG do the closed transfer to a serving keg thing. I lost my last double batch (yes all 10 gallons) when air was sucked in due to worn out corny keg post o-rings. So to never repeat that again, it's advised to transfer when...

       If you ar following the FWH thread you see I have doen some experiments in this system, It highly interest me as I do like hops, but I do not like hash hops.
       
       I am not a scientist, I do not even know how to measure how harsh hops can be except blind testing.
       
       So I am doing just that, I have 4 friends who are trying to identify which beers are what, how I brew is I make 5 gallons of wort, divide that and do one FWH and the other I add at the onset of the boil....

       On the first brew, I was looking to do a pre-prohibition cream ale so I looked around learned some history and came up with this recipe. I also wanted to max out my 8 gallon pot so I did a variation with water added at boil and in fermenter.    15. Safbrew BE-256 Abbaye dry

       Thought I would share my recent brew experience with this dry yeast.
       
       Just brewed a Belgian Pale Ale based on a recipe from Brewing Classic Styles by Zainasheff and Palmer. Instead of using a liquid yeast from the recipe I went with the Safbrew BE-256 Abbaye dry.
       
       This was a 3 gallon into a 3 gallon carboy brew with two packs of safbrew directly pitched.
       
       OG expected 1.052, actual 1.050
       FG expected 1.013, actual 1.008
       Brewed Sunday - pitched at 70F (21C), and put into chamber set at 66F...

       When I was growing up, I often heard the phrase, And, it only has x moving parts!!!
       
       I think, in brewing, we need to re-member (make whole) this most basic of principles. We have done it with BIAB (three vessels 're-membered' into one) but BIAB is just another method of making sweet liquor. There is much more to brewing.
