      Hey All,
      
      I'm trying to work out color calculations and I'm running into a problem. So far I'm using Morey's calculation {SRM=1.49 }. To calculate my MCUs I'm doing {(grain weight (lbs)*Lovibond of grain)/Volume (gal)}. Does this formula estimate final beer color, or the color going into the boil pot. The boil pot should contribute some color through Maillard reactions and the caramelization of some sugars. Finally to make the question really fun, how does post boil dilution effect final color?...

      That's great Shenk and can't wait to hear how it goes! Hopefully they'll let you borrow the machine a few times so as you can test the consistency.

   2. Recipe calculator

      Here is a batch calculator I made when I first joined BIAB. The goal was to make a spreadsheet that I could use to design different beers. The first page can be used to calculate SG after boil and color or the wort. I also included a dilution schedule, because I am doing maxiBIAB with a 19L pot. After I finish mashing I measure the volume of my wort and plug it into the top left corner. This cell is used by many other cells in sheet.

   3. First 2 BIAB and a batch calculator

      Hey everyone, I just got done with my 2nd BIAB brew a few days ago. My first brew was a ESB and the second was an Sierra Nevada Stout clone. For both I did the maxi-brew with sparging and volume dilution at the end (thanks Ralph for the great guide). I have a 5 gal stock pot with a 30 cm bottom diameter. I can’t emphasis enough that I’m hooked. This was my first time brewing all Grain and my 3rd brew overall.
      
      It took me a while to find voile and to sew the bag by hand, but once I got it...
