      Still prepping for my first BIAB brew....have my ingredients but looking at mills. I see a ton of people say Corona's work great...ton say they suck....25 bucks versus a Barley Crusher or CrankandStein....thoughts anyone? I also read somewhere that BIAB'ers sometimes double crush their grains to improve efficiency....thoughts on that?
      
      can't wait to get this started...I am doing a Stone Ruination IPA clone as my first go...weather is getting nicer, i'm itching to brew :-)

      I buy bulk grain that has already been milled and divide up the 25Kg into 1Kg packs myself.
      
      There is a thread about mills here . I mention in there too about vacuum sealing.
      You can get bags like these from Ebay (not sure if these are big enough though) but are cheap at £2 for 50. You can get a vacuum sealer from Lidl for about £20 as well.

   2. Bazooka Screen?

      Hi everyone, I'm prepping for my first BIAB day, hopefully within two weeks. I just ordered me a 15 gallon kettle from Spike brewing...I'm pretty excited :-) I did get BV bulkhead and I just ordered a Bayou Classic Steam Basket to help with the grain bag (still need to order). This may be a dumb question, but will a simple $8 bazooka screen work for filtering the wort to fermentor? I was thinking it would especially since there wouldn't be a grain bed on it. I have a friend who can TIG weld...

      I upgraded to a 16 gallon Bayou Classic pot a while back that came with a Bazooka screen. I found for BIAB or partial mash it was worthless. Better off installing an elbow with a piece of pipe that touches the bottom and very outside of the pot. Then simply whirlpool when the wort is cooled and let sit for 10-15 minutes before filling fermentor. The bazooka screen (at least with my pot) was useless because it left so much wort in the brew pot.

   3. Bulk Hop Buying / Leaf vs Pellet?

      I got sidetracked on my kettle post so moving it to hops thoughts.
      
      What are your thoughts on hops bulk buying and keeping in freezer? NB sells 1 lb pellet hops...I do have freezer space for this but was wondering on the life span. Do you all use pellet hops or the leaf (whatever they are called) hops? I actually thought about trying to grow some...more for fun but if I could use them that would be fun too. Our neighbors have a crappy back yard, I told my wife I could let them grow 20 feet tall...

   4. Kettle suggestion?

      I could use a little advice here. My question is that I currently have an 8 gallon kettle. I'm looking at selling some stuff (metal AG 2 tier setup with non-finished HLT, MT, and BK from a garage sale...never used but not completed ) to get a 15 gal from Spike Brewing but I'm having a hard time with the cost as I'd also like to get a grain mill and some storage for the grain. The last partial mash full boil I did was really pushing the limits of the 8 gal kettle!!...

      Read the mill post, I just had a buddy tell me there is another grain supplier that runs out of his garage to keep costs down so I'm going to check him out. He also only lives 5 minutes from my house so that is a nice option.
