      Well, going to get my 2nd BIAB on this weekend. I've not picked up any of the ingredients yet so thought I'd post the recipe and see if anyone had any comments or pointers for me? I've based it on an extract brew I did quite a while ago which turned out rather nice.

      Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.
      
      I brewed this nearly a year and a half back and from what I remember and some bad notes (my notes have since dramatically improved) that I've found, it turned out rather nice, not really as dark as I would have wanted, but that is just inexperience, and a little under carbonated! :drink:
      
      Onkeltuka, I used wyeast 1968 - the Fullers yeast - didn't make a starter just pitched the smack pack straight into the aerated wort. I definitely agree, should have upped...

   2. Adding salts/minerals to boiled water?

      Hi Guys,
      
      I live in Auckland and our water supply is pretty good other than approx. .8 to 1.3 ppm of chlorine. As I work for a water company I'm in the process of getting my hands on a activated carbon filter to treat the water before using to brew but in the meantime I'll boil the water the night before. My question is, do I need to add anything to the liquor after boiling/passing through a filter?
      
      I'm not too concerned with re-creating famous water profiles yet so any info would be much...

   3. From Kettle to Fermentor?

      I've so far got about 6 BIAB's under my belt and I'm loving the whole process but along with a few other questions, for another time and thread, when it comes to moving the wort from the kettle to the FV I have a few issues :scratch: .
      I haven't got an immersion chiller so I use my bath and sit my 50ltr stock pot in a cold bath, changing the water about 3 times, to get the wort to pitching temp, this probably takes about 45 mins ish.
      I've tried a couple of ways of transferring to my FV;...

   4. Dry hopping - does anyone squeeze?

      Just wondering if anyone squeezes the hop sock after dry hopping? I just dry hopped with just over 200g of hops and lost a fair bit of wort, so was contemplating squeezing the next time :think: just a bit concerned about infection and creating a cloudy beer?
      
      Any thoughts or experiences :?:

      I'm going to give squeezing a go on the batch I've got on at the moment and see how it goes.
      
      I don't use a hop sack for dry hoping. I just dump the hops into the primary and let them sink or float. If I am reusing the yeast cake I use a secondary and dry hop there.
      I can't seem to get my hands on whole hops so I use pellets. Although if I do maybe I'll give your method a go BB.

   5. Why does using hop sock affect grain quantity in BIABacus?

      I just finished my 3rd BIAB and so am still getting used to the BIABacus. I think its an amazing tool and really appreciate all the hard work that must have gone into it!
      The more I use it I'm sure the more questions I'll have and hopefully there'll be someone on here to give me some answers or point me in the right direction.
      So, the first of many questions; I was recently playing with BIABacus whilst putting together my 3rd BIAB and noticed that when I enter a 'N' into the 'hop sock used' it...

      I've not used any other brewing software, only the BIABacus, so I'm obviously bias but it's a bloody good tool I'm sure you'll agree :clap:
      
      I think all those involved in developing it need a big pat on the back and a beer :salute:. Hopefully as I gain more and more experience I'll be able to contribute to the forum to help others!

      Hi, this is going to be my first BIAB so I thought I'd better post it to see if anyone could see any glaring mistakes? I've put the recipe together myself using extract experience and looking at other recipes.
