Jeltz, The non-smoking guy ;) Would you tell us about the psychological principals behind your method please? Do you reckon the same principals would apply to carbohydrate addiction? which was my other question in #14 above. Thanks Well firstly its not "my" method, its what I picked up from the lik...

By all means copy it, quote it do what you wish. Lifestyle is a tricky one, personally I didn't go out on the beer with smokers until about 8 weeks into it. I tend to suggest that in the earliest stages try to stay reasonably sober and have a non smoking buddy who will look after you a bit....

OK, Actually its all about understanding how nicotine works. Nicotine is often quoted as being more addictive than many hard drugs, that is true in so much as its is very, very easy to get dependent on it however when coming off it the withdrawal is no where near as bad as most addictive substances....

If anyone wants tips on quitting smoking PM me, I don't want to hijack this thread. I'm very active on a smoking cessation forum and have mentored a few people in their quit. Briefly its all about how you approach it, if you look on it as depriving yourself then its so much harder than if you see it...

When I stopped smoking back in 2008 I basically stopped getting hangovers. If I have a proper session then the following day I might have some rehydration salts (as you would take if you have diarrhoea)then I'm fine.

Prior to that a hangover would last until lunchtime or beyond.

Shhhh don't tell anyone but on the last three brews I just added it straight from the tap to the fermenter without problem. I considered boiling some water beforehand to use for to but chose not to for the following reasons Its mixing with very hot wort. There is chlorine in the water (I don't bothe...

If I could I would but with the displacement from the hops it just takes it over the height where I get splash out, by adding it before the chilling I reckon that any nasties are killed as the temperature was still above 90C for several minutes. As I understand it from cooking very little survives a...

Hi, nice to see you here as well. When are you planning your 1st use of the boiler? I use a MaxiBAIB method where I mash then do a kind of sparge to top up the boiler. That way I get a full brew length of about 23L. That said I've only done 3 so I'm still learning. Have a look at this thread for a b...

Well there is a very slight haze on this beer but i don't care. It is without doubt the best beer I have ever tasted.

It is very close to my favourite commercial beer but I would say mine is nicer!

The only trouble is that it is far too easy to drink!

This has been in a barrel for nearly 2 weeks now, a couple of days ago I drew a half pint off and tried it. Its nearly cleared already and the flavour is amazing! It tastes very similar to one of my favourite commercial beer and I can hardly believe that its something I have made myself, I intend le...

I hoist the bag and hang it above the pot and squeeze with my hands, then curse the fact that I have again forgotten to buy rubber gloves and repeat until the bag isn't dripping or my hands are too painful to continue. This is after the bag having had a 10 minute soak in 71C water to add to the main...

Thank you, I did read the PDF but I don't have calcium chloride at the moment and was just hoping to provide some minerals with using a proportion of tap water this time and my reasoning for the magnesium sulphate was to just keep the pH down and as much as anything because I have some :D but I'll j...
