   1. Brew bag materials, synthetic vs natural??

      Hey guys,
      
      my mate and i are gearing up for our first biab and i was wondering if there are any downsides to using natural fibres (ie. 100% cotton) other than the working life of the bag and drain time. The concern with using synthetics is some form of chemical leaching into the brew.
      
      Any thoughts or comments would be helpful,

      Just a quick post to add some more info to this thread before I forget it...
      
      I've read of a few brewers who are happy using natural fibres however, natural fibres need to be given a good boil first. For example, it is not uncommon for cotton to be pre-treated with arsenic.
      
      Finding the melting point of materials is quite difficult. For example, some nylons have the same melting point as some polyesters. They are generally above 180 C though.

   2. using multiple yeast cultures

      hey fellas,
      
      i've read a few references to adding a second yeast culture during the fermenting. I used a second culture to restart a suspected dead fermentation. The beer was so good that between my mates and i it lasted about 2 minutes flat.

      wine/champagne strains take over when the funguys get tired. my menter uses wl099 when SWAt is needed... but it is able to really dry out.

      Hey guys,
      
      i managed to burn the bottom of my brew bag... accusations have been made about drunken supervision... unfounded obviously. My question is, will this poison the brew?? can it be saved??

   4. Honey instead of sugar

      I am kegging a Amarillo Ale this morning. I substituted a hop new to me called Citra! The beer will be called Citra Ass Down !
      
      All.
      I have since tried the All Citra ale. It turned out great. The Citra hops was reminiscent of Amarillo or Cascade but enough difference to make it unique. I also added all the timed hops (10 min. 5 min. flameout) to the primary after fermentation. I used a secondary this time and dry hopped there too! A hop bomb for sure! At the very least I know now what Citra...
