I should have been a bit more verbose (but I typed on the phone). I reacted to the fact that the EBC value is lower than the SRM value and my thought was that there might be a bug somewhere.

Also according to the SRM value the Amber malt is darker than I'm used to.

It depends on yeast strain I'm planning to use but I prefer the smack packs since they give early feedback if they are viable or not. But some strains are only easy available from White labs, such as Dry English Ale (used it a lot lately), Super High Gravity (failed miserably for me) and Pacific Ale...

Thanks for the calculations BBH. I think I have some more homework to do. Hmmm...Any idea what the units were for Ca and Mg? Were they ppm or ppm as CaCO3? Well, the water reports states: Magnesium(ICP) SS-EN ISO 11885 and the same for calcium. For what I can deduct from googling I would say the uni...

Linköping, Sweden water report: Ca: 18,6 ppm Mg: 2,5 ppm Na: 8,9 ppm Cl: 10,9 ppm Alkalinity CaCO3: 45,6 ppm pH: 8,4 To this I added for 27,5l of mash water: 7,2 g CaCO3 3,1 g CaCl 77% 2,1 g MgSO4 with a malt bill estimated by BeerSmith to be 108 EBC. After 15 minutes of mashing I had pH (room temp ...

The RA is a bit confusing since EZ v2, v3 and Palmer V3 disagrees with 185, 142 and 321 respectively with 5.5g baking soda. Without the numbers are: 64, 21 and 199. I never noticed that large difference before so I suspect I entered something wrong. The malt bill is complicated since I plan to get r...

BIAB from the start 6 months ago. BIAB brew #14 planned tomorrow.

When I started reading to learn about brewing I came across Braumeister systems and thought for myself: "Can I do the same with a pasta strainer in my kettle?". Then I stumbled upon BIAB and this site and the rest is history :-)

1. What volumes you are brewing? Boil volume 28l (actually too much for my stove) 2. What equipment you are using? 36l pot, electric induction stove 3. Whether a rope and pulley is possible for you? Don't need one. 4. Whether you mash out? No. 5. Methods you have tried and why you may have stopped u...
