American Football fans, fellow brewers! Green Bay Packers

Post #1 made 11 years ago
I have been conned into making a website for some Green Bay Packer fans and football fans in general. It is named after Nostradamus. It's called Cheesestradamus. the "Cheese" part comes from "Cheese-heads" which is the name given to people from Wisconsin (America's Dairy Land) We wear wedges of cheese on our heads just to prove how dumb we are?
cheesestraBobAvatar.png
Cheesestradamus is a easy to use website where you answer a few random questions about the next Green Bay Packer football game. You don't have to know anything about football! The players guesses are there for everyone to see. You can copy, change or edit them later on. When you edit your original guesses it averages the other players guesses to help you out. So here is what I am proposing. I need to have people play to test it out for me. So why not give it a go yourself and help me? What can it hurt?

The 16 game season and post-season gives everyone a chance to win? The 16 game season is split in half so you can play in two separate competitions. If you stink the first half you can have at it again! The last contest for the first half ends October 28th 2012. The following week the second half begins and we all start even up at zero!

http://cheesestradamus.com Is the website and we can compete against ourselves! There are some BIAB'ers playing already! Most of them don't know anything about American football but they are beating me! So much for me being a expert??? Thanks and good luck! Just go there, sign up and guess!

At the end of the 1st half and end of the season the winners handles (names) will be posted. International winners will be in a separate division! Token prizes will be mailed out! Bragging rights are worth more!

Here is a link about the statistics for those who need them. http://www.nfl.com/teams/greenbaypacker ... cs?team=GB

Thanks all,

Lylo... I will check it out as soon as I get back to town! There is a lot of things I could improve on but I don't see most of them when I self test. It's always better to have friends do it so they can tell you what is wrong! I just threw this together using parts of old websites I did in a past life. The Packers are playing tomorrow and I am out of town. I hope it works OK? Thanks again!

Remember you don't have to know diddly squat about football. You just have to look at everybody's score!
Yeasty... The packers play on the NFL channel I think you get that on Sky-net or something in the UK?

Bob,

I am an owner of the Packers, but that really doesn't mean that I know any thing about footall. I mostly just yell at the TV during the game (and drink some beer of course - the more beer I drink the more I know about football - right?)

Ill check out the site and report back.

 You are way ahead of me Yeasty... I'm going for the 'ignorance is bliss' approach. I have absolutely no idea on what any of the questions you have to answer mean and I am level with Bob - a whole three points .

Bob mentioned in an email something about putting a beer up for the winner (between he and I) but maybe we should have a Cheesestradamus/BIABrewer comp?
Whoever wins, the others have to send a bottle of their home brew to.

Postage might be ten dollars or something. Anyone up for this?

Good Day, Hmmm....
Sack - the quarterback is downed, behind the Line of scrimmage, with the ball.
Rushing - carrying the ball foward.
Turn overs - losing control of the Ball to the Other team.

Has anyone played Rugby?????

Hey Joshua, my sons play Rugby and I am a keen fan. Why do you ask?
I see no relationship between the 2 games.
"It's beer Jim, but not as we know it."

Hashie, In america, Rugby has been the primitive football game, Un-structured, game that became the basis for Football.

The "scrum" became the "scrimmage" line, the rugby pass became the Lateral.
With more structure, the Foward pass evolved, and scoring become more inline with the new ways to score.

But, like 3V brewing to BIAB , BIAB has less structure, fewer rules, and is more fun to do.
Kind of like Rugby.

Lylo wrote:What about that PP? Not bad picks for a guy with only .5 eyes!
And, and, and!! He missed a week because he was at the doctors!! What will happen if he devotes more than his usual 1 minute of time making choices? We will be toast! The mighty will fall! I have at least 4 women in my family who make their choices depending on the colors of the uniform or how many good looking studs the have. They are all beating me? I read about the team and their plays. I would probably do better if I make my choices by comparing which team has the best beer commercials??

Sunday October 7th 12 noon Central time! Green Bay Packers verses the Indianapolis Colts.

It was rigged!! The Americans lost on purpose! (how else could it happen??) The crime syndicate threatened the golfer's families! :nup:

Yeasty! You can come back too! You made up more than half the points in one week! Follow the averages that are shown under your picks (guesses). My son inlaw did that last week and got 11. I used study and logic and got 6 ??

It was rigged! I lost on purpose..........

Mwaaahahahahahaha .

Are we doing the "post the winner a beer" thing Bob? If so, everyone better check if you can post a beer to Australia   .

Mind you, posting a beer internationally might be pretty expensive . You could just send me, sorry, the winner cash :drink:. Or is being the first BIABrewer Cheesetradamus winner enough incentive for us all?

PP,

Being the international winner is a great feat! That's it! I am going to list the overall winner on the site for next year anyway. Why not have a International winner also! Alright! I will post the highest ranking international winner as a prize to you folks that are helping me! I am a cheap bastard anyway!

Any BIAB'ers who are lurking on this post that have not joined up please go to Cheesestradamus.com and catch up! You don't have to know anything about the sport to join, You just have to have a good sense of humor and a good enough memory to remember to pick your answers once a week or (copy whatever the regulars picked)!

http://cheesestradamus.com/

I may have a prize that will be shipped out but for now being listed and "Bragging rights" should suffice!

Yeasty,
Your right about the re-login bug. It's not really a bug I just haven't gotten around to correcting it yet! It's on the list but not high priority. Keep on plugging away! I am sure your expertise will make you the international winner. unless lylo or PP crush you! They are both sneaky blokes!

My secret last week was to use five astrologists to predict the game and then I just averaged them out. The only problem is that they charged me $50 each :interesting:. I think this method, great though it is, is not sustainable. I will buy some dice on the way home from work instead for this week's picks or maybe a dart board . Look out Yeasty!!!

...

Bob, if you did ship a prize to the international winner, make sure we all chip in for it. I reckon we don't really need one. This is fun anyway. You are doing a great job mate .
