Some of you may have noticed that at the bottom of the homepage it reads, "Most Users ever online was 42 on Wed Jul 07 2010." The forum is still young and we have never seen anywhere near 42 users online!

We have known of this problem for several months but the above date is only a few weeks ago??? If any of you technical guys know what could be causing this problem can you let us know? (Most bots are not activated on this forum - just Google.)

Thanks in advance,
Pat

Is it counting guests for some reason? Or is counting based on unique IP addresses? I will regularly access via two different IP addresses in a day, though I log on in each instance. I have also noticed that the "Last visit was:" seems to correspond with IP and not log in (i.e. at work it tells me the last time I logged in was yesterday when in fact I logged in from home this morning). Hope that helps :)

Thanks SS,

I did a bit of reading on this after posting last night and I think it might be Google Bot rather than the different IP addresses that is causing the problem.

I am not sure whether we should disallow Google Bot while the site is so young. Maybe it is a discrepancy we will have to put up with for now???

Thanks again,
Pat
