Dan from Forrest Hill Vic here
Was looking for biab specific recipes (looking to see if there was an appreciable difference)

I used to do kits 20 years ago, should have been hung as I was using regular sugar. Started brewing again last year on kits and now have done a few BIABS

Great website, appreciate all the work.

Hi all, new to the forum, but have been BIAB for about a year. I'm from New Jersey, USA.

Started with a few extract kits, then jumped right into AG.

I use a 15-gallon aluminum pot, turkey fryer burner, and a large "laundry" bag for my brews. I also have a 3-tap converted "keezer" and 5 pin lock cornies for kegging.

Currently have a CDA(Black IPA), Orange Wheat, and a Belgian Tripel kegged. An Irish Red, RIS, and more Orange wheat are in various stages of primary/secondary. Brewing a hoppy IPA up tomorrow!

At the moment I'm enjoying a Ballast Point Sea Monster Imperial Stout!

Hey, I feel a bit more like " a member of the club" as I popped my BIAB cherry on the weekend !
Was a great experience,a bit like a rollercoaster ride: Anticipation builds and is very exciting, fear just before you are about to start, the thrill in the execution, the just hanging on while things are getting a little bit hairy and the relaxation as you get control at the end of the day. Then start enjoying more beers with mates, and talk about the events of the ride !

Learned heaps from the day.
Cant wait to do another!

Radroo,
The ride (and beer) gets smoother as you go along. After a while you need a little more excitement and you get more creative? That's when your blood get boiling again.
tap 1 Raspberry wine
tap 2 Bourbon Barrel Porter
tap 3 Czech Pilsner
tap 4 Triple IPA 11% ABV

Pipeline: Mulled Cider 10% ABV

Hey everyone, new guy here from Los Angeles. Stumbled on this site because I wanted to learn more about biab! I've only brewed once, it was a honey hefeweizen that turned out well using the partial boil method with half of the ingredients being extract. I'd like to start brewing more as a hobby and have decided based on my constraints that it would work best to jump into all grain using the biab method.

Good Day TSName, Welcome to the Forum.

This is the Worlds best site for BIAB, and BIAB is the easist way to brew All-Grain there is.

Look around the Site, and if you have questions, just post, Someone is here any time of the day!

Hi everybody,

I am located on the southside of Brisbane, Australia. I have been kit brewing on and off for about 10 years, and have got things fairly sorted with regards to sanitisation, temp-controlled fermenting, etc. I have a purchased kegerator and a temp-controlled fermentation fridge.

I am now slowly collecting bits and pieces for BIAB. I am also building my own "BrewBot", which development of will go hand in hand with my BIAB experiences. V0.01 will be simple temperature control and duration of boil. I will then be adding in timers for hop additions, recipe uploading to the system, etc, etc.

Being a software programmer, it will take me longer to do the hardware/electronics side than the programming. :-)

Thanks,
Angus.

Hi everyone,

I'm Steve, and I hail from near Cambridge in the UK. I used to do AG with some mates many, many years ago, and have recently started brewing again using kits. I have been looking for a way back into AG brewing, but with limited space It wasn't looking that hopeful. Until I discovered BIAB, that is!

Found out about BIABrewer from Jim's Beer Kit forum in the UK, and have started getting my kit together. Hopefully I should be brewin' soon!

Like the site, looks like loads of useful info, and hope to be able to contribute once the beer starts flowing!

Cheers
Steve

Good Day Angus(angus_grant) Welcome to the Forum. Great to hear your moving to BIAB.
Look at our section on Electric Brewing http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=24 for ideas or help with your "BrewBot".
Many people are using HERMS, RIMS,and WORMS for BIAB brewing, so your system could be a good addition!

Good Day Steve(Stevea), Welcome aboard! Great to hear your getting back to brewing, and are thinking of BIAB.
It is a easy way to brew in small spaces, everything can be done in 2 or 3 square meters of space.
Look around the site and see if you want MINI- or MAXI- BIAB, and If you want to go ELECTRIC or GAS brewing. There is a way to BIAB for everybody!

If you have any Qustions, let us know, and someone will help!

Cheers Joshua, I have already managed to grab myself a 27 litre boiler, so I reckon I will be doing a little bit of a maxi-biab. :D

Thanks for the welcome Joshua. I have had a quick look through the electric brewing section and the one post in the "Automated Brewing" section. Seems like I am on my own or no-one else has bothered to post.

Once I have have my board together and have done a couple of BIAB's I will post some stuff in there. Will probably be a couple of months though. My wife and I are expecting our first brew-assissant in early July....

Post #2372 made 13 years ago
Good Day Angus, the Automated brewing section is a section to be closed, due to the electric brewing section showing many styles of Semi-automated brewing,
No system to date loads water, grains, goes to mash, then mash out, and removes the bag, does a sparge, goes to boil, adds the hops, goes to flame-out, Chills the wort, then drains the kettle with little trub into the fermenter, and adds the yeast, does the fremanation temperature profile, decides wether to go to secondary, or keg for aging, then carbonates the beer, bottles or keggs, serves the beer, and drinks it for you.
Your system should be interesting since you need a new Brew assissant this winter. Please let us know, since many of us have Semi-automated sytems and like new Ideas!!!!

Not sure if my little joke slipped through, but my wife and I are pregnant and are expecting our first child in July. e.g: our first "brew-assistant"

My 3 year old niece loves helping me clean out the kegs and fermentors, so is a part-time brew-assistant.

Understood about the automated brewing section. It will be a while until I have anything worthwhile to post. I'm on a very tight beer-toys budget until baby arrives.. :-(
