Those tiny little pumps for mash recirculation

Nice tiny little pumps. Anyone using one?

Makes me want to get one ---

I believe they are all TopsFlo brand ( TopsFlo.com ) and then re-branded
to us solar pumps; http://www.ussolarpumps.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I like the ones in the solar water pump section, all of these
are 1/2" NPT or BSP threads. This one is the top dog; http://www.ussolarpumps.com/index.php?m" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... cts_id=241

The pump pictured can be found in the circulating pump section of the main link,
caution about the thread size (M21).

What would you put on the top end?

An open hose tube or sum kinda sparge arm,
spraying down on the mash or tube with holes
inserted into the mash?

Just ordered one of those to pump wort through my home made counter flow! So hope it can handle it...I do have a hop stopper and hop using mini bags during the boil so should be all good me thinks!
Will report on its function when I set it up!

Got mine yesterday and set it up to pump through my counter flow...works like a dream 17.5 degrees from boiling in 15 mins

Also rigged it onto a board with a sankey cleaning socket that also cleans my beer lines....awesome bit of kit!

They call them little brown pumps in Australia for obvious reasons. Ive never used one but a search on AHB forums should give you some good info

They work pretty well and handle the temperatures we use. The two main problems I found with them are that you must recirculate hot water through them after you brew or the sugar gums them up pretty quickly. The pump housing is also plastic so they can snap under the thread if you put any pressure on them. Other than that they have a nice medium flow rate and they are pretty cheap to buy.
