Results from The Calculator: Need some confirmation

Post #1 made 14 years ago
I am new to BIAB. Here is a recipe for thehomebrewerforum.co.uk which I am interested in. I have done some conversion to a miniBIAB using The Calculator. Am I on the right track? Need some input. Thanks.

My parameters:

1. Pot volume: 19L
2. Pot diameter: 30.5
3. As I have not brewed before, I am using 75% for efficiency.
4. The AA for the hops from my LBS is Fuggles: 4.6% and East Kent Goldings: 4.8%
5. My planned brew size is 9L

Here's the original recipe:

Welcome to the forum hobbydog :peace:

You've done a great job with The Calculator :salute:.

I've had a look at the original recipe and it seems by Brew Length there, they mean the end of boil volume. So, what I've done in your file is, on the Hop Bill sheet changed cell E8 to 23.

I've also changed a few other things on the Hop Bill Sheet. I removed any values you had in E11-E13 as we don't really know what IBU system the original recipe is using*. It's better to rely on weights if you know the end of boil volume. Finally I added in the weight and time of the aroma hops.

So, that should be good to go now. Best of luck with it :luck:,

* Just looking now though and it seems they are using the same version as is used in The Calculator so the way you had it set up would have worked well enough for the first two hops although all you need in that case is to just fill out column E - no need to worry about B and C :peace:).
