Hi folks, Happy New Year to all. I'm in a similar situation as thughes. I've only brewed ONCE this year and that is shocking. Last year we moved to a different house after accumulating "stuff" for over 40 years. That has literally overwhelmed me and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with all...

Thanks.. do you think that's the end water.. or is it likely the starting water and it is boiled to precipitate out some/most of the hardness.. Except for the Carbonate, it looks to be a good profile from what little I can gather. I emailed a friend who has won about everything that's possible. He g...

:) Thanks Mally, but I think filling the heater coil with water might just be a bad idea. Might just ruin my heating element. :argh: :argh: I'm going to stick with a different method. :) Actually filling the pot up to the top of the coils with X amount of water as a start. Then it should be easy to ...

Yah, I guess I could calculate the volume just by knowing the dimensions that Lylo posted.. then filling liter by liter. I'm not sure it makes a LOT of difference.. but, it'll be fun to find out. I'll save the water for the plants or something. Can't afford to waste too much with this blinking droug...

The coil in the BrauMeister are quite a few turns of tubing. I'd say it's more than 12 oz displacement. About 4 turns completely around the ID of the kettle which is decent size.

I'm a happy camper with this electric BIAB. Regarding setting the pot dimensions, do you have to account for the coil volume displacement? If so, HOW? My mind is no longer creative enough to figure how to account for that. If the coils were easily removed, it would be easy :) I'm wondering if any BI...

I poured at a big brew event this past weekend. I usually pour for Lost Coast Brewery from Eureka, CA.. but, poured for a local brewery instead, Fogbelt. I went over to visit Jack, the rep for Lost Coast and what was one of the beers he was pouring? An Apricot Wheat. It was pretty nice. They have an...

I've only done one brew and it was quite successful. The gushers/geysers, I believe, are due to operator error(s). I set my mill to 1.2mm and had a great crush with very little flour. We did a full volume boil, but, I drew off about 6L of water before adding the grains, stirring only as they were ad...

BrauMeister??

Anyone here using the Speidel Braumeister? It is, essentially, an 'automated' electric BIAB. I bought one last November and have finally got it up and running. A friend who has one came up and we had my first brew day using it. We brew an APA from Brewing Classic Styles. Hit all the numbers except t...

Thanks PP. This year.. yes :) I ran into a hitch with one of the flourescent fixtures. Not coming on. I swapped bulbs I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to swap out a ballast or not. Probably go to the big orange box store and pick up another complete fixture. Then just have to make some sills f...

Thanks guys. Spent part of my day renewing my drivers license. Part of it working in my garage getting lighting back up after I sheet rocked the walls and painted. The last part was talking to my family via phone and Skype... and now a message to you. Off to get a beer and watch the boob tube. Cheer...

How do you find b'days? The Members spreadsheet doesn't have a list sort for that as far as I can see. Always nice to send someone a greeting. OBTW, I was in the Members sort yesterday looking for a name. On MY computer, I don't seem to be able to get the "starts with" to accept a letter/number. For...

Ha, Thanks Rich.. that's rich. I do a lot of wood carving and Santa's are one of my main subjects. Most people look at them and say the Santa's look like me. I guess when you look at yourself a number of times a day.. it get's burned into the memory when making cuts in the wood.. I shaved my beard o...
